Exploring Alternatives: Managing Chronic Pain in Young Patients

Chronic pain can be a serious problem for young people who have chronic inflammatory diseases like juvenile rheumatoid osteoarthritis. Crohn's disease can be a big problem in the younger population, and unfortunately, steroid injections can be one of your only options that are offered by your primary care or specialty physician. Certainly biologics therapies like PRP or bone marrow aspirin injections can be effective in managing joint pain and can be more effective in younger patients. But if you have an autoimmune disease, this can impact the way that they work. In some cases, steroid injections are really your only option unless you can afford some of the very expensive therapies that are available for younger rheumatoid patients.
