Dr. Joshua John-Ram Schacter explains why Pinnacle Integrative Orthopedics uses patients' own cells for stem cell treatments instead of sourced alternatives. Exosomes and stem cells from bovine, amniotic, or cord blood aren't FDA-approved in the U.S. Autologous cells are more effective and can slow arthritis progression.

When we do stem cells here at Pinnacle Integrative Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Wichita Falls, Texas, the most important thing to us is that we're using your tissue to heal your body. So when we use exosomes or stem cells from another source, like bovine stem cells or amniotic fluid cord blood stem cells, these are actually not legal to do in the United States. The FDA has not approved these for treatment even off label in the United States. So if your physician is recommending those sorts of exosomes, that's not a legitimate treatment as seen by regenerative specialists like ourselves. We want to use your own cells to treat you. These are by far the most effective cells to treat your body. And what we find with stem cell treatment, particularly using our technique, is that these can either slow or even arrest arthritic progression in some studies. And so we're very excited to share this technology, but we want to make sure that you understand that it's very different from these other stem cell therapies that have been marketed, in some cases fraudulently, here in the United States. If you are getting stem cells from somewhere other than yourself, they're probably not going to be as effective as what we're doing here at Pinnacle Integrative Orthopedics.
