Jimmie P., PRP Injections & Laser Therapy

Jimmie P., 77, had chronic knee pain after replacement surgery. Two PRP injections and six laser treatments gave him 70-80% improvement and let him use his wheelchair and walker far less. Dr. Joshua John-Ram Schacter walks through how simple the procedures are.

Pam, Jimmy is 77 years old, and he came to us with pretty severe knee pain. Right. We've had a knee replacement that had become chronically painful over a number of years. We did two PRP injections, We did laser therapies. We did our silver package on Jimmy. And it's worked out really, really well.
It has.
So what was life like before we met?
Well, I just about ready to get a wheelchair.
Yeah.
And the walker.
Was hard.
Yeah. But so pretty impaired by your pain. And you had it every day.
Yes.
Okay, Pam, what did you see there? With a lot of kind of problems.
Yes, a lot of problems. He really didn't want to get out of his seat. He just pretended to try to just sit all the time because walking was so difficult for him.
Yeah.
And just knowing he was hurting all the time because I love him and I want him to be better and I want him to be able to get around. And he would fall.
Yeah.
You know, a few times.
And so what finally triggered you guys to come in and talk to me about. About these orthobiologics options?
Because it's non invasive, you know, we didn't want to put him through another surgery. He didn't need it mentally or physically. All the rehab that would go, he would be going through. And this was something that we could deal with, you know, much better.
So we did two PRP injections and six laser treatments. After his first PRP injection, we had about 30% relief of his symptoms. And now we're to 70 to 80%. He's getting around with, with. Sometimes he uses a walker when he's out, but he doesn't need it all the time anymore. Definitely not in a wheelchair.
That's great.
Thank goodness. Right? So what, what kind of concerns did you have before we did our procedure?
They wouldn't work.
And they told you.
What, what concerns did you have, Pam?
Kind of that too, but I didn't have too many concerns. I really felt pretty confident that we were going and we were doing the right thing.
Great, great. What was the procedure like? What was it like for you? Pretty easy.
It's easy.
Yeah. Just. Just a blood draw, quick injection here in the office. How long? It didn't take long.
No, no. Easy.
Very good.
Just get in, get out.
What kind of downtime did you have after the procedure? Did you have to take it easy? Did you.
I took it easy because I didn't want to.
Disturb what. What we got got done.
But you were back to your normal activities. And how long, how long did it take you to get back to doing what you normally do.
Had a mom.
Okay. And I would say we had you walking up the day we did your surgery. So you kind of felt that maximum improvement by a month after each injection.
But I didn't want to push you.
Yeah, exactly. So taking it easy. So what's life like now?
Better.
Good.
I can.
Walk real good now.
Pam, what do you think?
Oh, yes. There's so much more peace now and. And knowing that he is getting up and he's walking more and he's not sitting all the time and he's not scaring me that he's going to fall.
Fantastic. Yes. And so what would you say to somebody who's considering working with us here at Pinnacle in our Virginia?
Yes, definitely. It's worth it all.
Do it.
It's worth it all. Yes.
Fantastic. Fantastic. And do you have anything else that you'd like to say to folks about the Pinnacle and the way that we.
Do things around here?
When you.
You come in. You come in people that are friendly. It's not like a doctor's office where they just herd you in. My cattle.
That's. And that's on purpose.
Yeah, that's on purpose. Everybody's so kind, and it's comfortable and it's. It's great. We enjoy it.
Thank you guys so much. Thank you for doing well, because without patients like you, we got nothing. Right.
Thank you for.
Thank you.
Thank you. You're welcome.
