A short interview-style YouTube video (Dec 15, 2023) featuring patient Kassie and Dr. Joshua John-Ram Schacter. Kassie describes progressive hip pain and functional limitation due to developmental hip dysplasia; the clinician explains the diagnosis and notes preference for non-surgical (orthobiologic) options given her age and activity level.
The last year or so before I just started having a lot of pain. I was limited on my walking. I couldn't go out and do the activities with my family like I wanted or get up and move around with my students. I just felt like I would come home at the end of the day and I could just have to sit down and just couldn't move at the end of the day. I'd have to use a cane at some points in time because the pain would be so bad.
Okay. Cassie came to us with some hip problems.
Yep.
She was actually born this way. She has a problem that's called developmental hip dysplasia, which creates a lot of problems in the hip joint. And she's so young and active that we really didn't feel like surgery was an option.
No, I did not want to do that yet. I really didn't want to do a hip replacement. You had treated my father in law and did great with him and so he gave me your name and I'm really glad that I came in, kind of see some other options for sure.
