Dr. Joshua John-Ram Schacter explains why PRP injections work better than steroids for joint pain. PRP lasts longer, reduces inflammation without the crystal deposits that steroids leave behind, and may actually improve joint tissue health instead of just masking symptoms.

Morgan I totally agree. PRP injections can be life changing. Remember, PRP injections are superior to steroid injections in a lot of ways. One, they're very powerful anti inflammatory, and there's a lot of studies out there that show that they last a lot longer than initial articular steroid injections. Two, they don't damage the tissue that we inject them into like a steroid does. A steroid deposits crystals in the tissues and in the joint and can lead to further damage. There are studies that show that steroid injections into joints can cause arthritis to progress, where that's not the case with prp. And third, PRP actually makes the tissues within the joint healthier. The idea is that when we inject your tissue into your joint, it improves the overall health of the joint while helping you control your symptoms. So exactly, PRP injections can be life changing.
