Real Relief from Knee Pain

Larry Shields had bilateral knee pain rated 8-9 on bad days. After PRP treatment from Dr. Joshua John-Ram Schacter in February, his pain dropped to about 5, stabilized within a week, and held up during a walking-heavy trip to Poland months later.

All right, so we're here today with Larry Shields. Larry is one of our very first orthobiologics patients and he has done amazingly well. So just to go over again, Larry.
That was in February, about the 24th.
Of February, and we did our PRP to both of your knees.
Yes.
And you've already done a little video talk for us, so we know that you've done very, very well. Yes, but, but give us a little rundown of the experience one more time. When we did the injections, I didn't.
Know what to expect, but I've always given blood on a regular basis and drawing the blood had no problems for me and was a short wait. And then when they came in to do the injections, that went well. The right knee, easy left knee, which was, in my opinion, in worse shape than the right knee. The injection created a, a little more pressure than in the right knee. And as I said on the other video about the time I was saying, okay, I think it's going to explode.
Right?
She said, all done. So that was good. But it was well worth any discomfort that I had.
Well, I would say not more than a week. I started to notice it seemed like it was stabilized, nothing was getting worse. And then gradually I just started thinking less and less about my knees because they didn't ask for any attention, they didn't hurt as much. I just didn't think about them. And that was a big change for me.
And did we have any downtime? After the injections, we'll typically ask people who are athletic or enjoy working out to take about six weeks off of high impact activity. But in most cases, we can do our normal activities starting the day after we do our injection.
And at my age, my activities are, none of them are very strenuous. So probably the most strenuous thing is mowing the lawn. And I wasn't doing that in February.
Gotcha. Gotcha.
It was easy for me to adjust and it just worked wonderfully.
That's fantastic.
Well, some days it was, I would say at least an 8, maybe a 9. It was just hard to walk. It was hard to get up out of a chair without real careful attention to which direction I move my knees. And, and then on a good day it would be maybe a five, but a lot of days, eight.
I think that it's really fantastic that we can achieve this with just an injection and a little bit of, and a little bit of you. That's what's fantastic about the whole process. Right.
That made it even more attractive.
Right. So with prp, we don't have a foreign material that damages the joint. It's very healthy. And so you just got back from an amazing trip to Poland?
Yes, I was a little concerned about that, but I was really shocked that with all the walking, the climbing of stairs, being on my feet a lot of hours every day, and even riding in a coach between cities, I was afraid maybe the knees would give me some problems. But they were no problem at all. I didn't even think about them except when I was climbing stairs. And I just remembered maybe I should be careful with my knees. But I had no problems with them whatsoever.
Fantastic. And so we're several months after our injection. We've been able to be as active as Larry wants to be. The pain is relieved, and this is a fantastic outcome. This is a very common outcome that we see with orthobiologics at Pinnacle Integrative Orthopedics. And we would love to share it with all of you. So come see us and follow in Larry's footsteps.
I highly recommend it.
Thank you, my friend.
Thank you.
Really appreciate you.
You're welcome.
All.
