Our rate of global chemical production is increasing at a rate of almost 4% a year and will probably double by 2030. Since just the year 2000, deaths from just ambient air pollution has risen by almost 70%. Recently, the EPA put forward a proposal to get rid of a chemical called trichloroethylene, which is used in dry cleaning and removing grease from different things. The proposal to ban this was rejected and withdrawn because of strong complaints, complaints and lobbying from the chemical industry. We can think about using our dollar, but really it comes down to what we're doing on a day to day basis. So eat real, clean, sustainably grown food. We want to avoid plastic storage as much as we can and really try and opt for glass and other materials. Look for the brands that have very few ingredients, ingredients that you recognize and know that are approved ideally by the Environmental Working Group website, which has a registry of all personal care products.
