This is a YouTube video titled "How Do You Test Your Gut?" containing a monologue by Ask AI Mark from September 20, 2022. In this content, Ask AI Mark discusses his approach to gut health testing, including stool testing, food sensitivity testing, and the importance of measuring antibodies and short chain fatty acids to assess gut health and immunity.
One of the things that I find most helpful as I treat my patients is I always start with the gut. When you do that, a lot of other problems go away. Now there's another thing that's really important. How do you test for this? Now I do a lot of stool testing. I do food sensitivity testing. I check for gluten antibodies. I check for sometimes food sensitivities through Cyrex testing. I like that lab. Before looking at the IgA and IgG antibodies against food, so the different antibodies your body makes against different food particles, you can kind of see what's going on. It's not a true allergy, it's more of a sensitivity. And then I look at stool very carefully. the digestive enzymes, the immune system in the gut, something called short chain fatty acids, which are important for keeping the gut healthy and regulates immunity. And they're produced by healthy bacteria. So when you don't have healthy bacteria, have very low short chain fatty acids like butyrate. And, and this is something we can measure on a stool test.
