This is a YouTube video titled "Stress Is An Epidemic #shorts" containing a conversation recorded on December 29, 2022, featuring Ask AI Mark and another speaker discussing the medical impact of stress, its biological pathways, and the increasing stress levels especially among youth.
Stress basically either is responsible for causing or exacerbating 95% of all illnesses, which is like, what? It's something in medical school we don't really learn about. How do we think about it?
How does it work? What does it do, right? And we now know the pathways and yet we still don't take it seriously. We're not gonna get rid of stress, but there is a way to live with it better that is absolutely medically relevant. It's a prognostic factor for getting mental and physical illnesses. And all of the data, including a recent APA survey show we are more stressed now than in previous years and decades. But even worse, I think of our youth, like 70% are reporting such extreme stress they don't know how to manage it. It's interfering with their life. These are really serious red flags. We know what that means biologically. It's a leading indicator to the wear and tear on ourselves, on our brain, the conditions where I was trying to avoid.
