This is a YouTube video titled "Your Food Can Save You Money #shorts" containing a dialogue between two speakers discussing the concept of "Food Is Medicine." The conversation highlights the economic and health benefits of healthy eating, including its impact on healthcare costs and insurance companies, recorded on August 31, 2023.
We're not talking about $5. We're talking about trillions. And I've got the momentum of Congress and companies now saying, what is Food Is Medicine? The momentum is absolutely there. We wouldn't.
Be here without the 25 years of advocacy that you put in.
I don't think I can take the full credit. I think there's a lot of people have been talking and working on this. That's absolutely true. There's a lot of people that have, but you were one of the first people that I went to and said, why are these crazy people talking about this? I was out in California and people taking buns off their burgers. And I'm like, okay, hold on, slow down here. What is Food Is Medicine? You've developed it as a healthy food concept where it can actually be applied as medicine. We actually extend that one step further. It's not only that, but it's actually somebody else paying for it. Eating healthy is not easy and it's not cheap. What we started looking at is who the beneficiaries of this. Well, obviously the individual themselves is a beneficiary, but the second highest beneficiary is the insurance company. Because if they can reduce your overall cost of care, they make a killing. For every dollar you put into healthy food, it saves.
About $3 in healthcare costs. I mean, that's a 300% return on investment. That is pretty damn good.
