Endocrine anxiety is one of the eight types of anxiety. And in teaching on this topic, I want to share with you stories of people who were told that it's all in their head, when really it was an imbalance in one of their endocrine hormones. So let's see if you can guess what today's endocrine imbalance is. This woman came to my office and she's a 30 year old female and she was dealing with a ton of anxiety. But what she was also dealing with, doctors cast off as just all in her head. She had heat intolerance, she was losing weight and no matter how much she ate, she couldn't keep the weight on. Doctors joked that, hey, lots of people would kill to be in your shoes losing weight. She also had tons of heart palpitations and restlessness and tremors. She was drinking kava kava like it was going out of style. But the anxiety was getting worse and now it was interfering in her life. The doctors, they told her just do more relaxation techniques, do some deep breathing and here's an antidepressant. But she got worse and worse. Is this ringing a bell? Does anyone know what it this person was dealing with a type of endocrine anxiety called hyperthyroidism, where her thyroid was out of balance and producing too much thyroid hormone, which can be a cause of endocrine anxiety.
