Ayurveda Mini-Series Pt. 2: Aligning to Your Values & Yourself with Happy Healthy Hadlee | Ep. 60

This is a podcast-style YouTube conversation between Dr. Nicole Cain and Happy Healthy Hadlee about "integrity" and aligning to one’s values using Ayurvedic principles. Early in the episode they define integrity as feeling "whole and undivided," connect integrity to success (using a bow-and-arrow metaphor for alignment), and promise three takeaways: (1) what integrity means, (2) why it’s essential for success, and (3) how to get into integrity. The hosts reference a quiz to personalize the four Ayurvedic success ingredients (Artha, Dharma, Kama, Moksha) and preview applying mind/body/spirit/emotions to practical alignment.

Welcome to my podcast. I'm Dr. Nicole Cain, a naturopathic doctor with a master's in clinical psychology and a former anxiety sufferer turned anxiety freedom rebel.
Welcome.
We are so happy to be here with you again. This is Nicole, and I am actually recording this back in Phoenix, Arizona. And I'm so excited to have this conversation with Hadley, who is filming this in her new location in Spain.
Yes.
What I love about this timing of this conversation, at least for me personally, is that it's really grounding in being integrity, being in balance. And that's something that I really need right now. And so if you're listening to this recording and you feel like there's been a lot of shifting and a lot of changing that's happening in your life, this is going to be a really valuable conversation for you. And it's all about being in integrity with our bodies, our minds, our values, and our community. And last time, remember, we talked about the four ingredients for ultimate success. Arta, Dharma, Kama, and Moksha. And the brilliant Hadley is going to dive deeper with us today and make sure, if you haven't, to check out that quiz that we have so that you can personalize this for your best success. And at the end of this conversation, you are going to walk away with these three things. Number one is what being in integrity means. Number two, how being in integrity is essential for your success. And number three, how do we get into integrity to begin with? And so, Hadley, I'm so glad that we're having this conversation together, and I can't wait to learn from you.
You're the best. I just love you. I'm so excited to talk about this today, too. This is something that I talk a lot about with my clients and with people even before they start working with me. I. A lot of times we'll talk to them about where they feel like they're out of integrity with all of the things that they wish they were in integrity with. And so. And so we should probably start with sort of a definition of what being in integrity even means. So essentially, it means being whole and undivided. So it sort of has. Has become like a morality thing. You know, like you're. If you're in integrity, you're not lying. But the original definition of the word was essentially feeling whole, feeling undivided, feeling like you have a sense of wholeness with whatever it is that you want in your life. So you could be in integrity with your body's needs. So, for example, you're doing the things that your body really enjoys the things that are serving your body, the things that feel really good in your body. You could be in integrity with your values. So. So if you have, like, specific values, you are living by them. You're not doing things that are like, oh, that doesn't actually feel quite right. Like, there's just kind of like a factor when you're out of integrity with your values or with your body or with any of these things, really. And so that's kind of what we're talking about when we. When we talk about being in integrity, if that makes sense.
I think of it, too, in really basic. This is my brain. I think of it in really basic terms as like shooting a bow and arrow at a bullseye. And so if. If my whole focus, my body, the arrow, everything is in integrity, if it's aligned, if it's undivided, I'm going to be a whole heck of a lot more sure to hit that bullseye than if I was undivided. You know, my attention is over here. I'm pointing the arrow over there. And so I think just On a basic 101 level, we can all look at it that way, and you're going to help us actually apply it to success, apply it to life, and look at it from an ayurvedic perspective, which includes kind of the mind, the body, the spirit, and the emotions.
Yes, totally. Yeah, I think that's a really good analogy. And I love having visuals like that to be able to kind of, like, think. Think about it, not in terms of, like, words necessarily, but have. Have those pictures to be able to. To think of it in that way. So that is awesome. I love it. So, yeah, so let's talk a little bit about what are some of the signs that you are in integrity? And then what are some of the signs that you are out of integrity? So last week, obviously, we talked about the four aims of life. And just as like, kind of a little recap, those four aims are Dharma, which is our purpose. And this is based on ayurvedic knowledge. So if you haven't watched that or if you haven't listened to that podcast, definitely go back and listen to it. So you can kind of get caught up with that if you're interested in learning more about the four aims of life. But Dharma, is that the purpose or the thing that we do that is very fulfilling for us? And then Arthur is kind of. That means for prosperity. So it's our material.
