A short educational YouTube talk by Dr. Nicole Cain about tapering off antidepressants. The speaker focuses primarily on SSRIs and SNRIs (examples given) and briefly lists other antidepressant classes (MAOIs, tricyclics, dopamine agonists, serotonin modulators), noting similar tapering principles across many types.

Sam all right, let's start with tapering antidepressants. When I'm talking about antidepressants, I'm mostly focusing on SSRIs and SNRIs. SSRIs include things like Prozac, Lexapro, Celexa, Paxil, and Zoloft. And Snris would be things like Cymbalta, Effexor, and Pristiq. We rarely use maois in practice anymore because they have such high interactions with basically everything in the environment. Other medications that are under the antidepressant category that you might think about when you're watching this video and taking this course are Nardyl or tricyclics. Or there's other ones like Trofanil or Anafranil and dopamine agonists like Wellbutrin, serotonin modulators, Trazodone. And so we'll get into these just briefly. But generally speaking, as I'm going through this, the guidelines are quite similar with an SSRI as with the other ones.
