A short transcript of a YouTube segment where Dr. Nicole Cain (Dr. Kane/Kane?) discusses nighttime habits for better sleep. She recommends against rigid, repeated routines unless necessary, cites Jade Wu's book 'Hello Sleep', and emphasizes following natural sleepiness ('honoring the sleepy train') rather than forcing sleep with fixed rituals.

Well, the sun is setting, Dr. Kane and so I was curious about what are a few nighttime routines that can help one get better rest.
Nighttime routines Nighttime habits Actually I would not have routines and habits unless you absolutely need them. There's a book that you should check out it's by Jade Wu and it's called hello Sleep. And the really important thing that she points out is our brain is very associative and so if you're using these same habits every single night, the brain is going to associate must use these habits in order to sleep. So the best thing that you can do is to try to be in rhythm with your body. I always talk about the sleepy train and so that's the biggest hack is if the sleepy train is coming honoring that and going to bed at that time and you're sleepy as opposed to creating this whole list of things that you need to do to try to get sleepy and force your body at that time. So check out the book.
