A first-person testimonial from Sara about her weight-loss journey using a structured medical weight-loss program. She describes gradual weight gain over two decades, health problems (fatigue, joint pain, high blood pressure), enrollment with a clinic that performed a medical workup and personalized meal-replacement plan, rapid initial results (15 lb in month one), transition to maintenance after reaching goal, and major outcomes: starting weight 183 lb, original goal ~140–142 lb, current weight 122 lb, and a total loss of about 60–61 lb over roughly eight months. She reports improved sleep, reduced joint pain, more energy, and better overall health.

As I got older and after I'd had kids, every year, I was kind of like 2, 3, 4 pounds heavier. And then all of a sudden it'd been 20 years. And putting on 2, 3, 4 pounds a year really adds up. So it had become time to get something done. I just felt bad. I was tired all the time. My joints hurt, my knees hurt, my ankles hurt. I had high blood pressure, a variety of things that losing weight would all help. So it certainly has. I had tried some other programs in the past, but I just couldn't keep the weight off. It just kept coming back. So I needed a program that would help me keep everything in check over a long time. I was very nervous coming in because didn't really know what to expect. They put me at ease right away, and they took me under their wing like, you can do this. And were very nice and helpful and answered questions that I had along the way. When I first came in, did a full medical workup and kind of looked at what my issues were so that I could work with the staff to develop a plan that was specific to me to meet my needs and what my nutritional needs were, my health needs were. So then we came up with basically a meal plan of, this is what I need to eat for each of my three meals and snacks and. And I used all of the meal replacement items at first, so it actually made it very easy for me to go, okay, well, I've got these things that I'm eating today at these times and allowed me to do that. I reached my goal about three months ago, and I've actually lost a little bit more since I reached my goal. So I've more than maintained. I've continued to lose a little, which I'm happy to do. Though I've reached a point where I'm. I'm pleased with my current situation, so doing great. Once I reached my goal, I was able to transition to a maintenance program. The maintenance just helps me check in and make sure that I'm staying on a good nutrition plan and making sure everything is staying on track. It's always easy for me to throw one of the protein bars in my purse and then have it if I need it. If the day is going along and I've had to skip lunch at work or something, then I'm able to have something quick that I know is going to be healthy for me. I saw results almost immediately. In the first month, I lost £15, so that was great reinforcement. Hey, this is working. I got to keep going. So then it almost becomes A challenge to yourself to, okay, you've done this. What can you do now? So, yeah, I saw results really quickly, and it took a while for people around me to notice, but not that long. So pretty soon they're like, hey, what are you doing? What are you. Because I really wasn't. I didn't tell a lot of people what I was doing besides my family. So then it was about a month or two in, people were like, hey, have you lost some weight? What are you doing? And then now when I see people I haven't seen in six months, they're like, oh, my gosh, what have you done? That's been interesting, but, yeah, it's been great. I've seen, you know, the results were quick and just kept coming night and day. Comparison to where I was before to where I am now. I used to have a lot of trouble sleeping and losing weight and eating more healthy have certainly improved my sleep, which I feel has improved my overall situation completely. It's like I wake up and I don't feel like a zombie anymore. And then the pain I have had in my joints before is gone. So that helps me have more energy, helps me be able to exercise, which has helped me tremendously and just feel great. My starting weight was 183. My original goal was 142. Get down to 140 pounds, and I did that, and then we reset my goal lower than that, and now I'm at 122 pounds. So I've lost 61 pounds. And I met my original goal in about five months of losing. I lost 45 pounds in five months, and then now I've lost 60 pounds in eight months, so I've lost 60 pounds. If I was trying to encourage a friend, I would, you know, tell them that they can do it and it's worth it because you feel so much better and your health will be so much better if you do it sooner rather than later.
