Yvonne Oswald, a clinical hypnotherapist with a PhD, discusses her work treating PTSD, depression, and trauma survivors. Since COVID, she's shifted to online work and now teaches globally from various countries.

All right. So Yvonne, okay, you are the number 4 NLP guru in the world. Okay, so that has got to be you know, something pretty cool. Okay, how did you— what was your journey to get here as the number 4 guru in the world in NLP?

I can hear you perfectly.
Awesome. So I started out in England, as you can hear, and I had a very abusive childhood. And I actually— it wasn't until I was 36 that I realized I had real issues. I traveled, I'd lived in South Africa, I lived in Italy, I lived in Portugal, ended up in Canada. And then I realized I needed to do a little bit of work on myself. So I did Gestalt therapy, talk therapy, past life regression, you name it, I did everything. And everything worked kind of temporarily. Nothing really stuck though. I qualified as a teacher originally and left teaching because I really wanted to help people more. I wanted to make sure that people didn't go through what I went through. And as I actually, uh, learned the hypnosis and NLP, it changed my life. Hypnosis is amazing. And then when I put the NLP with it, I was like, wow, this is, uh, just a magic genie in the lamp. And I wrote the book Every Word Has Power. It became a bestseller in 11 languages. And from there, I did my PhD in clinical hypnosis, and I've been training and teaching ever since. What's happening now is I finally realized that I want to travel again. So I've been in Canada 30 years. I'm selling up, I'm moving to the sunshine. I don't want to do one more winter, I'm finished. And it's very interesting because, uh, I've, I've trademarked the word Mind Switch, and I'm going to be teaching Mind Switch meditation, Mind Switch hypnosis, Mind Switch NLP, Mind Switch past life regression all over the world. I've got invitations to Dubai, to Australia, to Switzerland, you name it. It's been amazing.
Well, that is fantastic. So I mean, it basically goes to show how, you know, I mean, your own struggles are really what is a major factor in achieving greatness, because now, you know, that you can really relate to people who, well, basically have been through what you've been through and help them on a journey to essentially, uh, get out of it faster, better, and easier.
Yeah, exactly. And my specialty is PTSD, depression, people who are suicidal, sexual abuse. I love those because they're so easy for me because I know how I got out of that. And it's just— I do my 4-hour Breakthrough Blueprint session, which I call a Mind Switch Breakthrough Blueprint, and it's going all over the world since COVID came. I've been more busy than I've ever been in my life. I'm literally online doing 4-hour sessions to all over the world, and people just pass me on, and then they're like, when are you coming to visit us? We're going to pay for you to get out here. So I'm like, okay. So, so literally I'm going to be selling up, moving south, and just find a couple of condos somewhere and just traveling.
Fantastic, fantastic. So that's, so that's in your future, is, is moving, going, go traveling the world You know, maybe kind of sitting on a yacht in the south of Spain, you know, and doing your little phone calls on your, you know, global internet radio phone thing.
Yeah, I've been in one place long enough because I was in Niagara Falls. I've been here for, what, 7 years now in the Healing House, and I've been running trainings from here. I've had people come from America and all over the world to learn to be hypnotherapists or NLP practitioners up to master's level. And I've come to the point where I think I'm just going to end up a dog lady if I end up here. So I am just uprooting and pulling the rug and just heading out into the wild blue yonder. And I'm very happy for anybody who wants me to go and train, go ahead, get in touch with me, and I will come to you. Just get some people together and I'll just come and travel.

So what would you say would be— because, you know, there's a lot of people who, um, have been struggling during the pandemic. So what would you say was your special secret sauce, uh, you know, to basically bring that out and, and be busier than ever?
I, I'm not sure. Just, I guess because people got really, uh, anxious about what was happening. I'm seeing a lot of teenagers now, actually. I'm doing a lot of work with older teenagers who are really anxious and, you know, depressed and suicidal and It— that excites me because I can, in one session, I can really, really knock it on the head. And then I'm working with young 20-year-olds, kids who are right— who really can't do anything because they can't get jobs right now. And, you know, the older ones who are not leaving the house, it's very easy on Zoom or on, you know, online. It's fabulous. That's why my trainings are going online, because I want to be able to work with people all over the world and pass my The knowledge I've got over 30 years, I want that out there at this point.
