Release Cravings

Yvonne Oswald coaches Jane through visualization techniques to release a craving for potato chips and clear sadness from her heart. By changing how she perceives the craving's location, shape, color, and rotation, Jane makes the chips taste bland and the emotion neutral.

So Jane, how would you like to learn to release a craving for potato chips or for chocolate? That work? Yeah. All right, okay, cool. So what we're going to do is first of all we're going to open a brand new pack of potato chips. Lay's are the best ones to do this with because Lay's are very salty. Okay. Right, they've got just no flavor, they're just salty. Right, so I'm going to open it in front of you so you get the brand new packet, it's fresh. And I've got a little tissue here for you.
Thank you.
I've got one too. So if you would just take 2 or 3 potato chips and put them on the tissue, that would be great. Yeah, go on, have another. And then chomp away at one of them. I'm going to do the same. They're really good. Yeah, exactly. Okay, good. All right, good. So what I want you to do is close your eyes and think about where you've got that craving for that salt and that potato chip in your body, physical body. Where is it? If you were to know, or pretend to know. In my mouth. In your mouth. And if it had a shape and a color, what shape and color would it be? That gravy?
It would be round and it would be, um, it would be white.
White. Cool. Okay, good. So I'd like to spin that white round shape either clockwise or anti-clockwise. Which way would you like it to go?
Anti.
Anti-clockwise. Awesome. So I'd like you to pop it out of your mouth, in front of your mouth, tip it upside down so now it's going clockwise. And make it a different shape and color. What shape and color would it like to be this time?
A tan square.
A tan square. Okay, good. So go ahead and take that clockwise figure, the tan square going clockwise, pop it back into your mouth in the original place, lock it in, and open your eyes. And now taste one of the potato chips. Does it taste as good?
No.
What does it taste like?
Like flavorless.
Yeah, exactly.
But I mean, I can still chew it, but it's flavorless.
Yeah, it's kind of tasteless, isn't it? It's really kind of interesting. So that is how you release a craving. Isn't it great? How simple is that? We're changing the submodalities on the craving and we're changing just the appearance of it so that it doesn't have that same association and the neurological link in your head. Cool? Isn't that interesting? Yeah, I know, it's fantastic. So we're going to go on. I'm going to take those. Oops. Diminish those later if you wish, but they're not really desirable anymore, are they? So we can do this with emotions too, right? I would like you— and this is one of the simplest ways to clear a negative emotion. I, when I have a breakthrough session with people, when I do my Mind Switch Switch Breakthrough session, 4 hours. I give my clients 4 different techniques to go home with, and this is one of the easiest ones to clear an emotion on a daily basis.
Okay, you ready?
I want you to think of a time when you were sad or disappointed. You got that? Okay, I don't even need to know what it's about. It just— we need to know where it is in the body. Where are you holding it in your body?
Um, in my heart.
In your heart. Okay, good. And if it had a shape and a color, what shape and color would it be?
Oval, dark red. Oval and, uh, dark red, like a burgundy.
Dark red.
Okay, cool.
Go ahead and close your eyes, and I'd like you to spin it clockwise or counterclockwise. Which way would you like to go?
Uh, clockwise. Clockwise.
Okay, good. So this time I'd like you to pop that oval dark red shape It's going clockwise. Altebi Body, tip it upside down so now it's going anti-clockwise and make it a different shape and colour. What shape and colour would you like it to be?
It's now a sphere and it's a bright blue.
Bright blue. Can we make it a bit different than a sphere because it's a bit too close to the oval? Diamond. Oh, that's even better. That's brilliant. So I'd like you to pop that bright blue diamond going anti-clockwise back in that original place in your heart. Lock it in and open your eyes. And now try to feel that sadness and disappointment. Isn't that weird?
Yeah.
Neutral. Isn't that interesting? Yeah. That's how quickly you can release a negative emotion. It's the simplest thing in the world. Good job!
