EuroLeague Game Day 2025.
Elijah Bryant, 14 points.
Oh, he's got a little help from his friend Elijah Bryant.
Bryant in the corner, he strings the 3.
Broken up and away comes Bryant.
Bryant, oh, tough finish off the glass.
Crazy thing is, I feel like I didn't sleep that well. Like, I did my hyperbaric oxygen chamber, I finished that at around 10, and I can go to to sleep like 2. Like, kind of like first day of school vibe, back to school, like nervous, anxious, which obviously I haven't had in the past 4 years being— I've been on the same team. But I'm excited for that. It's good, it's, it's new, it's a, uh, exciting time. And learning my new routines and systems on game day, trying to keep the same, the similar ones, um, in terms of what I'm bringing and stuff like that. Dive into some scripture this morning. I wanted to, um, share with you guys something I've been reading that was on my mind. I won't look at my phone while I'm driving, but basically it's in Proverbs. I think it's— I want to say Proverbs 18, where it discusses how the rich think of their wealth as a strong defense. People with money often trust their wealth to protect them like it's a shield against problems. They feel secure because of what they own. Money can give a false sense of security. Real safety and strength don't come from wealth, they come from God. So think about that. You have all the money in the world, but your protection comes from God.
Guess who you got. Be good. Yeah, that's good. There you go.
Game day. Well, we're back in another hotel. Wow, time flies. It feels like yesterday, literally. We were making these videos and talking to each other just last year in Istanbul. So some guys don't like staying in the hotel, but personally, me, I like it just because I'm used to it. I did it for 4 years, or I've done it for 4 years. And like we always talk about, it allows less friction in my routines. So what does that mean? My kids coming home, me trying to take a nap, everything's the same with the hotel. The food, bed. Obviously starting a new routine, new hotel, new city, different stuff might change. Like this room has 2 small beds. Okay, I'll get that fixed next time. But staying in the hotel is something I actually enjoy, and most teams do it to limit friction for players. And in Istanbul, they do it because of the traffic. So I really believe in this concept of just trying to control for everything you can. And so right now I'm watching some film on the last time we played Barça, which is away with Efes, and we actually lost, just to see how they guarded me in pick and roll. Uh, obviously same coach, some different players, but still just to get a feel of what their schemes will be like on me in terms of the game plan. So now I'm just watching clips of Punter and seeing his last shots of where he felt comfortable, what he likes doing, and watch Clyburn too. And, um, welcome back, glad you're back on the court, super happy for you. Yeah, film is a great way to pick up things that you necessarily can't see on the court all the time, just because you get to see it from a bird's eye view. And if you don't know how to necessarily watch film, I have some parameters that I use, and if you want it, I'll put the link to the little sheet that you can use to help you get better at watching film.
Elijah Bryant.
14 points, pretty efficient shooting numbers. Strap yourselves in, another EuroLeague season is about to begin. The ball is up and deflected away. Chance to run, Malcolm out in the open court. Oh, he blows the layup. Oh, he's got a little help from his friend Elijah Bryant. Bryant looking to get into the basket, soft off the glass, that one rims out.
Shot clock low here. It's a bit too easy in the end in this matchup.
To attack, yes he is. It's all the way in, but Toko there on the— Misic drives, kicks, extra pass to Bryant in the corner. He strings the 3.
Veselin broken up, and away comes Bryant. Bryant.
Needs to create some space.
Changes, lobbed up.
Oh, somehow squeezed it, but he is now 9 for 10. Foul is called, offensive foul. Bryant getting back. Jones steps to the side for 3 and splashes it. Clock here, Jones fires up the 3 and he splashes it home. Bryant, oh, tough finish off the glass. Bryant trying to snake his way to the basket. Will that drop? Yes, it will. Time expires. Hapoel Tel Aviv played 1-1-1 in the EuroLeague. What a start to the EuroCup, uh, for the EuroCup champions.
Okay, so most importantly, we got the win. Uh, first win in EuroLeague for HaPo Tel Aviv, so that's a very big accomplishment. I'm super excited. As I said, uh, we're gonna do 2 things that I could have— 2 things I did well and 1 thing I could get better at every time for these game day vlogs. So 2 things I did well: I hit my free throws and I had assists and less turnovers. I think I had 8 assists and 2 turnovers. 1 thing I could do better is get to my kill spots better in terms of when I get the mismatch. But I'll watch the film tomorrow and then evaluate it and then watch it. So tomorrow we head to Montenegro to play my former team, Anadolu Efes, and That'll be a fun one just because I spent 4 years there. As you guys know, you've been on this journey with me. But until then, we'll see you next time. Love, faith, plus consistency.
