Elijah Bryant rejects religious ritual and superstition, saying he doesn't knock wood because he feels unheard. He recalls drinking in Florida while Kendrick Lamar's "Swimming Pools" played, a moment that shifted his whole mission.
I ain't knocking wood. Why? I am not religious. Is that understood? Huh? I am not religious. Is that understood? Okay. Do you get it though? I don't do the rituals. Why? They ain't hear me, so I had to give them visuals. Okay. Big guy, but I had to keep it minimal. You don't need a lot when you standing on no principles. Florida where it's hot, but the rain come in intervals. I was sipping, sipping back when Kendrick dropped the swimming pools. Now my mission different.
