How to PLAY BASKETBALL OVERSEAS @euroleague

In this informal vlog, professional basketball player Elijah Bryant, joined by his wife Janelle and various on‑camera friends, walks viewers through the practical and personal aspects of pursuing a basketball career overseas. The video blends behind‑the‑scenes travel footage from Spain (Madrid, Valencia) with candid conversations about credibility (college experience, Division III/NAIA), agent selection, choosing playing opportunities over higher pay, staying ready through diet, recovery, and social‑media presence, and the importance of film study and embracing one’s role on a team. Elijah shares personal anecdotes about hotel quirks, snack packs, sponsor shout‑outs, and post‑game reflections, emphasizing resilience during losses, the value of winning for career advancement, and the overall enjoyment of living and playing abroad. The tone is conversational, enthusiastic, and occasionally humorous, aiming to inform aspiring players while giving an authentic glimpse into the life of an overseas professional athlete.

So my next question to you is, are you good enough to play overseas? Did you play in college? Do you have any experience? All that is going to help your credibility with playing overseas.
Here he goes again, Elijah Bryant, dazzling dribble.
About to get this chopped up and make you fresh haircut. Fresh haircut.
All right, we got to discuss something. There's two things we need to discuss. A, the beard is back. I don't know if it's back for just November, but it's back just because I like it. Baby doesn't like it, but everyone's been requesting it. And two, everyone knows that feeling after you get a haircut, like your confidence, everything just goes up a million trillion. You feel me? One Cent Club, baby. Oh, and shout out to Sneer Mir. Sneer coming to the house, cut it up. Go check him out on Instagram.
I'm just really feeling myself with the fresh cut. Should I be?
Anyways, but I'm on my way to practice. We leave for Spain tomorrow and we'll be gone for a few days. So this would be like our first, I guess, road trip.
It's a double week.
We play Real Madrid Madrid, we play Valencia. Today's the day after we played Hertzelija. How did that game go in overtime? I have no idea, but we got the win. That's all that matters. Another thing, how about the guy just punched me in the butt? And I wanted to talk about these shirts that Cutz sent me. I know you've probably seen them on Facebook and their ads, and every time I see an ad like that, I'm always like, come on, dude, like another t-shirt brand? So they ended up sending me a few items, and they're actually legit. So like, if you are thinking about getting like a shirt that like, this neutral, no logos, very comfortable, very soft, they have a lot of cuts.
That's funny, they have a lot of cuts of different styles.
But we're gonna go there and fight regardless of the result, like Coach always says. We're going to be task-driven like I'm trying to teach you guys. I'm still trying to learn. Just because I'm teaching you guys stuff doesn't mean I'm not still trying to master it because I feel like you can always continue to learn in whatever you're doing. Let's get these pennies, baby. And if you're new here, consider subscribing and join the 1 cent club. Just getting better every single day. Little apple and beetroot. Cheers, cheers, boys. That's red wine. Don't lie to the camera. Oh, you let him fade the beard this time. A Jell-O special. It's the Jell-O special. You got to go, you got to go let the dude fade your beard one time just to see how you like it, bro. It took me 33 years to get this.
Oh, this is still kind of wet. Hi, Mr.

I'm looking at the analytics.
Oh, she's looking at the analytics. Best Blues hymn song. What is it? What else song does he sing?
I am a child of God. I am a child of God.

Oh, you got Corona, Doc? Oh, he got the Ronas. This is content right here.
John, you're the captain though.
Oh, sit right here, bro.
I get this light right now. This is like some studio lighting.
In this video, I wanted to talk about How to play basketball overseas. Thank you so much. No problem. And of course, I always forget my toothbrush. It's not that I forget it, it's just I don't want to bring my toothbrush out of the house because Corona. But back to what I was saying, so playing basketball overseas and what things you need to know before coming overseas. So my next question to you is, are you good enough to play overseas? Did you play in college? Do you have any experience? All that is going to help your credibility with playing overseas. All right, so just because you didn't score a lot of points in college doesn't mean you can't play overseas. Playing, even playing Division III or NAIA, still gives you some sort of credibility. How cute is my wife? She literally packed me a snack pack. So I have these like date things that are like my dessert. I have some Wasatch beef jerky that is from Utah. Shout out to Wasatch Pork Jerky, all natural.
I have some—
one sec—
pineapple rings and some sunflower seeds. I don't know, I feel like I get hungry sometimes. So shout out to you, Janelle, for going to the store and getting me some snacks. So if you're a wife, doesn't mean you have to do that, but might make your husband happy. Okay, so two questions I have in terms of overseas Europe basketball hotel. Since when do they not give you a washcloth to wash your body? Like, is this a washcloth? And my second thing is, what is the point in this? So the water gets all over the floor. Either take this away or extend it out. Can someone please let me know in the comments why? Like, what's the— just to save money? Is this a Europe thing? What's going on? Oh, and shout out to wifey again for finding the aluminum-free Speed Stick. Yeah, I'm gonna put you on aluminum-free. Yeah, I know, I know, I have stuff on my face, but would it even be a road trip if I didn't do the face mask? I'm gonna break into one of these. They're fire. This— I'll show you. She gets them at the healthy store. Try to eat healthy as much as possible. Date with 100% cacao chocolate on it. Delicioso. Wow, A+. All right, so understand in college that you're basically looking for an opportunity overseas. For example, me, played at BYU, played summer league with Philly, didn't really play, then waited, waited, waited. Finally a lot came. Which is in Israel, and I had an opportunity, a great opportunity. I took that opportunity, and now I'm here playing for Maccabi Tel Aviv. But when you're first coming out, I feel like you're looking for an opportunity. Now obviously it's only my third year out, so I'm still learning the whole process, but from my experience, you want to choose the opportunity over the money. You might get offered more money somewhere, but choose the opportunity because that could allow you to progress faster. So when it comes to agents, right, when you're coming out, depending on where you're coming from, you might have a lot of agents after you, might have a little bit of agents after you, but the main thing is find an agent that cares about you. Yes, you. I'm talking to you. You're gonna have all these agents that are promising you this, all this stuff that's not true. Nothing, nothing's promised in this world, as you know, but find someone who cares about you and not telling you stuff, oh, I can get you this, I can get Well, let's see if you can give me that job. Do they care about you as a person? Because there's going to be days where you're up, there's going to be days when you're down. So I've also heard that you also don't have to sign with the agent. You have to have someone that's working on your behalf. At least all the people I know have an agent, and that's what I recommend to you, is to get an agent.
Elijah, what are you doing?
Okay, so I know we talked about the agent recently, but I also want to talk about staying ready. That is in terms of diet, in terms of how you're portrayed on social media. These teams look at everything to try to figure out who you are exactly. And also understand that you might get a job during the summer, or you might get a job during the middle of the year, depending on how the team needs players, how you've been playing, you're fit and stuff like that. So stay ready. This is your job. Health is wealth. Your body is your moneymaker, so take care of it. I always like to think like what you put in is what you get out in terms of workouts, in terms of diet, in terms of all that stuff. That's how I like to think about it. So we just finished lunch before the game. Obviously I didn't tell you guys, you guys know I'm in Madrid, Spain. We play Real Madrid today. About to take my nap, get ready for the game, and we'll continue to talk about this whole overseas basketball thing.
Elijah Bryant controlling things up top, got to move to the basket, up over Randolph, can't get it to fall. Gets the rebound though. Now he's got an easy one. 80 to bet. It's another assist for Kapaso. He's already got a couple in this game. 7-4, Madrid's up. And there's one, I tell you that right now. Even though he shot an airball the last time. Oh, there's— he's just running the floor. What a pass! And what a run! Randolph left open at the top of the key. Good defense by Bender to get out and get him. Nice rotation defensively by Maccabi. So hard. You gotta box out the big man. Good help by Elijah Bryant right there on defense. His deck was cutting to the hoop. It goes off to Bender. Bender with a quick shot. Easy pass for anybody to handle, let alone a guy as big as Anthony. And look at the basket! Look at the move by Zeese.
All right guys, so obviously as you know, we lost. What can I say? I mean, I don't want this to be a situation where it's like you only show the good when you win. I want to show it all because I feel like that's what the world needs right now. It can't be always good all the time because we're going through a lot of bad right now and we need to show that so people can relate to it. Besides basketball, that's besides basketball, but we lost. So now we're in Valencia. We have another opportunity in 2 days to get a win. We're gonna continue to fight. We're gonna continue to stick together during adversity. So, I mean, your true colors show during adversity. So we're gonna continue to stick together as a team. But in terms of overseas basketball, we'll get back to that tomorrow. Just, I need to sit on this one tonight. It's 24-hour rule. You harp on it for 24 hours, then you let it go. So I'm gonna harp on it for 24 hours. Oh, and Danny's gonna get drafted tonight. I'm gonna say he's gonna get drafted to Chicago. Chicago, or maybe Golden State. That's my predictions. Good luck, Danny.
I don't know what they're gonna do here. I think they could surprise some people with what they decide.
Real, real crazy. But Danny got drafted number 9 to Washington. What a dream come true. I didn't think he would fall that far. A lot of things can change in the draft, as you can see. So another thing about overseas basketball is that winning trumps all. If your team's winning, then you're going to be able to move on to a higher level, a better team. So stats are cool. I mean, you can have great stats, but if you're losing, it doesn't do anything for you personally. And another thing is, is that understand that you are on a team. You're not going to be the highest point scorer every game. You're not going to be the main person on this team. Find your role and star in that role. And that's not just in basketball, but that's in life, that's in the NBA. You got to find your role. Not everyone's a James Harden, Stephen Curry, all that stuff. So find your role and star in that role.
Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, dear mom. Happy birthday to you.
You also moved from one hotel— one country to another.
No, Valencia's in Spain.
Oh, so you just went down the street or same hotel?
When, uh, we flew to Valencia. How does it feel to be 20, uh, 35?
Feels nice.
35?
Damn, what am I, 20?
Now this is better because you can walk in and the water comes from up top, so you're not getting water all over the floor. Still though, why is it a half thing? All right, so for me, watching film isn't necessarily about did I play good, did I play bad. I'm watching to correct my mistakes. Because failure is a part of life, and when you fail, you will grow. So if you don't watch your mistakes, you won't understand where certain players are and certain things you could have done better— defense, offense, anything in terms of basketball. So after the game, I sit on it, and then if I have a day off, then I'll wait until the next day and watch the whole game, all my minutes, to see where I could have been better, just so it gives me a better visualization when I'm on the court of where guys at where I can find guys. Should I have shot that? Should I have passed it? So yeah, 1 Cent Club. All right, so now we're about to head to practice, but what can you do? You gotta focus on continuing to get better, correct your mistakes, and go from there.
That looks super cold.
Yeah, I know.
They brought that?
How's that not ripped?
Who's next after me?
So that was the ice bath for recovery. As you guys know, you gotta take care of your body. But the last thing I want to say about overseas basketball, and this is it, so listen up: enjoy the experience. Yes, you, you're playing basketball for a living, you're living in a different country. Enjoy the experience and embrace it. Thanks for watching.
