In this YouTube vlog, professional basketball player Elijah Bryant takes viewers on a road trip to Germany for a EuroLeague game against Fenerbahçe, using the experience to explore why European basketball fans are uniquely passionate. He outlines his criteria for ranking fan bases—focusing on loudness, intensity, and the "sixth man" impact rather than trophies—then ranks the top five: Panathinaikos (Greece), Red Star (Serbia), Fenerbahçe (Turkey), Partizan (Serbia), and a surprise #1 spot he dubs "Hopo Offense" (a humorous nod). Throughout, Bryant contrasts EuroLeague fan culture with the NBA, highlighting traditions like chanting, flag‑waving, flares, toilet‑paper throws, and family loyalty that persists even when players switch teams. He intersperses game‑day footage, film study of Fenerbahçe’s third‑quarter start, and tactical commentary on player tendencies, coach reactions, and psychological adjustments (e.g., forcing a shooter into a bad shot). The vlog also includes live play‑by‑play snippets, performance highlights (Bryant’s career‑high 38 PIR), and self‑reflection on his own play, noting strengths (three‑point shooting) and areas for improvement (calmness and teammate involvement). The overall narrative blends fan‑culture analysis, personal travel experience, and on‑court basketball insight.

I've played in some gyms, but the EuroLeague atmosphere is like no other in the world. So tonight we're in Germany playing Fenerbahçe, and I want to take you guys along with me to see how EuroLeague fans are and see the atmosphere. And with that, I'm also going to be ranking the most passionate fans in EuroLeague, so stay till the end to see who takes the number 1 spot.
Y'all, who's up?
I'll have to say Red Star.
Red Star.
Red Star, Partizan, Pana.
Top 3.
Red Star, Partizan, Pana.
Top 3. Bet.
So playing in Europe, especially playing on the road, is something I actually like because the fans, you feel like you have to bond together as a team in order to get the outcome you want. But I've always wondered, like, what makes European fans so passionate, especially in the EuroLeague? So is it city pride? Is it family tradition? Or is it just love for your team? But before I rank any fan bases, let's get the criteria right. It's not about trophies, it's not about fame, it's about how you make the opponent feel in the arena. If you got a small group of fans and you make it super loud, respect, you're making the list. But if you have a lot of fans and it's not loud, you're not making the list. I'm basing the rankings on who gives their team that big push when they need it, that real sixth man energy. And from what I know, I know we're playing in Germany, but tonight will feel like an away game. There will be tons of Fenerbahçe fans there and it will create a really, really electric atmosphere. So for all you Americans who are watching this video, this is not like an NBA game. These fans are calling you out by name. They're in your DMs, they're chanting, they're waving flags, they're shooting flares. They're making their presence known. Even in some arenas, they throw toilet paper on the floor to start the game to make sure you know they're there. My question to the fans watching this video, you can be a fan for this one, not a student, is what makes you be a follower of that team? Is it community? Is it your family? Is it just team pride? Because teams like Fenerbahçe or Galatasaray, why do you choose one side? It's like a family tradition, right? Because in Europe, your favorite player can leave your team, but you're still going to be a fan of that team. So when LeBron left Cleveland to go to Miami, people became Cleveland fans. But when Scottie Wilberkin leaves Fenerbahçe to go to another team, they're still going to be Fenerbahçe fans. Okay, so before we get into ranking the fan bases, we haven't even talked about the team yet. Fenerbahçe, very talented team, obviously lost a lot of talent, losing Nigel and Marco, but they brought in a lot of talent. They have Brandon Boston, they still have Wade, they had Davon Hall, they have Bonzi Colson. They have Melly, first team all-impact, and they are the champs. So they're the best team from last year. So we have to go and beat them, and it's not going to be an easy game because it's going to be one of our only road games that we've had fans. So tonight will be a test for us, and with any test, you show your true character. So this is a great game for us. Let's watch some film. All right, so we're watching the start of the third quarter just to get an idea of what kind of ATOs they're coming out after halftime. So they're up by 13, and I just want to see the energy they play with because I know Maccabi comes back in this game. Again, we're watching flow, watching tendencies, watching coach's reaction over here, what he likes, what he doesn't like, watching reactions on the bench to pick up any information on what they're allowed to do, not to do, because you can play into the psychology of that. What do I mean when I say that? For example, let's say Brandon Boston gets in and the first thing he does is jack up a shot. I see his coach's reaction, so I know the psychology of the player and I know the psychology of the coach. The coach doesn't want to take that shot, so if I'm guarding Brandon Boston and I'm going to force him into taking that shot to mess the psychology up team and to get him off his rhythm. Does it work every time? No, but it can. All right, now let's rank them.
5.
Panathinaikos. These guys are out of control in a good way. It makes the environment crazy. A lot of them, they're loud, they're doing the hand gestures, they're cussing at you. Game 5 last year, they brought fireworks to our hotel at 2:30 in the morning. They're about it. Real European fans. All right, now number 4, Red Star in Serbia. These fans are extremely loud, and even last year they were 80% capacity and you couldn't hear yourself even talk to your teammates. So you're gonna be surprised of the top 3 that I picked, so stay to the end, I'm gonna tell you my top 3.
Head-to-head marquee matchup. It comes from the playmaking point guard position. 38 performance index rating points from Elijah Bryant, a new career high.
He's back.
Taylen Boston Tucker lets it fly and it's short by some distance. Elijah Bryant picks up the air ball on the edge of the lane, and look at the tussle those two are having. But the 3-ball drilled confidently. By Elijah Bryant. Way into the lane, dream shake, turnaround J, short off left on the front iron. Again, Elijah Bryant to the free throw line and he calmly connects from 15 feet away. So Taylen Horton Tucker defending Bryant. Bryant sees a seam, attacks it, bumped from behind, fouled in the act of shooting. He disappointed that he's not 7 out of 7 from the strike and he's remarkable that line earlier. Bryant, Elijah Bryant with another rebound, rubbed out by Wade Baldwin, the fourth.
10-point lead in this quarter.
Score on the board. Vasilje Mitić, perfect. But then the 3-ball connected confidently by Elijah Bryant. Elijah Bryant looks at the 3 and lands it from the corner. Dribble against man, he kicks to the corner. Ish Wainwright extra pass Elijah Bryant to beat the shot clock horn.
That didn't go as planned.
In terms of the fan ranking, number 3, Fenerbahçe. I'll give it to them. Even tonight it was, it was jumping in Germany. So number 2, I would say Partizan playing in Belgrade. A bunch of fans, loud fans. You can't hear anything in there. And then number 1, the one and only Hopo Offense. Well, let's talk about the game. So two things I did well, one thing I can work on. Shot it decently from three. I got to be more calmer once I get below the free throw line in terms of playing against this team specifically because I played them so many times, Fenerbahçe. And another thing that I can be better at is get my teammates involved a little bit more, allowing them to get a feel for the game. But as always, faith plus consistency. We'll see you in the next one.
