A speaker describes his pre-game warm-up in a hot tub at BYU and his post-game cryotherapy routine that alternates hot and cold, ending cold to force the body to reheat. He questions why athletes use cold exposure before intense activity, worried it might stiffen muscles, and asks for explanations to improve his own recovery.

So for me personally, I used to do a hot tub before the game just to kind of warm the muscles up to get ready for the game. Um, but everyone's routine is different. Mine's not exactly right, but it's what worked for me when I was at BYU. But I don't understand this. I'm just asking because I don't know, I've never done it. Why would you do cold tub if you're about to run around? You know, like, why would you ice before you're about to go run? Wouldn't that make your muscles stiffer. Maybe it works for you, I don't know. Um, but yeah, so I would do warm before the games and then go and get ready for the game, shower, get ready. And then after the game I would do cryo and then cold, hot, cold, finish on cold so my body can reheat itself. There's a lot of science behind that. But yeah, please let me know why you did cold before for it, because if there's— if it worked for you, I might try it. You know, I'm always down to try new things to, to optimize my
