Dan went from charging $500-$600 for films to closing $58,000 in four days after joining Eric Deeran's program. He landed a $48,000 deal and credits intensive sales coaching, mock calls with coaches Hakeem and Ethan, and learning to handle objections. What's going on, guys? I'm here with one of our clients, dan, who closed $58,000 in the past four days. And we like to call you Dan the Man, dude. And I think I could say from everyone from the master filmmaker team, we are, we're super proud of you, man. We really are. But for anybody who maybe doesn't know you and what it kind of took to get here, give us a little bit of background on you and kind.
Of what you do. Yeah, totally. Thanks, man. Just like a super quick 30 second thing about me. I. Man, I, I mean, honestly, like, I've only been doing this for, since 2016, like, as a hobby, but I really didn't take it seriously until about like a little over a year ago. So for me, it, it, it's, it's a short journey, but it's something that I've been, you know, wanting to do since 2016. And it really spurred actually from right after college, I worked at a, a sales job. It was for Yelp. We all know Yelp.
But I was so bad.
I was so bad, man. Like, and, and granted, like, you know, I was, I was green. I was, you know, I was just out of college, but I was so bad. And I remember thinking, like, number one, I want to be a business owner. Yep. And two, sales is going to get me there. I just, like, I just don't have the skills, man. Like, I didn't know what I was going to do, you know? Like, I tried other ventures, but I really leaned into video just because I was watching a ton of YouTube videos and I was like, this is really fun. And I got into photography and then into gear and, you know, we all get into gear. Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
But, but yeah, man, that. It just kind of led me to here. Yeah.
I love it. I love it, dude. And I know, like, had you, because I know we helped you come up with the niche, the offer, the sales process, the marketing materials. Like, did you have when you were coming in, I'm trying to remember. Um, like, did you, were you going after any niche right now or you just had nothing formed when you first started?
That's a great question. I. When I first started, I was really going after like car shots.
Okay.
You know.
Yeah.
But here's the thing. Like, I, I don't know anything about cars. Like, like, I don't know why I did that.
Yeah.
Back I did do some things, like, you know, like hot sauces and like popcorn, you know, like the farmer's market. Yep.
Like product based commercials and stuff.
Like that.
Yeah.
Yeah, I was watching a lot of. What's in it. Daniel. Daniel. I forgot his name.
I know who you're talking about.
Yeah. Yeah. And so to answer your question, I really didn't have anything really set up. I mean, I, I knew that I just wanted to, To. To work in this industry and, and. And to create a business, build a business, but I, I didn't. And that's kind of like where you guys kind of helped me with, um, in terms of the, the strategy and the process. Cause I didn't have any. I didn't have any of that as.
Far as, like, having an offer, having an inbound system, having a sales process, and then, like, building that out, is what you're saying, kind of.
Yeah. Having an inbound system, having that pro. All of that. And to be fair, I mean, you just said prior. You just said, like, you know, we. We helped Dan do it. Yes, you did. But, like, I'm just. I was just following directions, too, you know, Like, I put in the work, but you guys already had a system that worked. And then it's just almost like plug and play. At least that's how I felt like it was.
Well, I, I like how. Because. And this is what I was going to touch on, too, is like, you. You put in the work, dude. Like, this is not. It's not like you just snap your fingers and you make money. Like, you do have to put effort in. And I love seeing from where you started, because I know you do a lot of mock calls with me and Ethan. Ethan. Especially like, Ethan, Ethan's the goat. But, like, I loved seeing your progression from, like, where you first started, as far as the sales calls to where you are now. And it just. Like I watched the one where you closed the $48,000 deal. It just feels so natural. Like you're. You're like a completely different person. I feel like a. We feel like proud fathers over here. Like, me, Hakeem, Ethan, Evan, everybody. Dude, I love it.
I love my, My. My wife because I, I show my wife the videos because, you know, she's there. You know, she gave me a really good compliment when I closed that $48,000 deal with that lawyer. She said. She said it sounds like. Like this sounds like you.
Yeah.
Like everything that you're saying are things that you say on a day to day basis. Like, there's a part in it where I talk about my mom. My mom always says there's. There's the time to work and a time to play, but you can't do both. My wife. My wife Brittany was like, you always say that.
Yeah.
And it's.
It's true.
I do.
And I think for a lot of people, it's like, they think sales is this, like, inauthentic process where it's like this, like, rigid thing you have to do, where it's just amplifying who you are as a person and trying to communicate that proper to. To your prospects, which obviously people love you and are very comfortable with you and they want to move forward. Because they're speaking with you, Dan, because that's. That's your main selling point, you know?
Yeah, I. I hope so, man. That's. That's. That's what I'm going for. And that's honestly what's been my success so far, you know, so far more to come. Yeah, I love it.
I guess, like, if I had to ask, I. I guess. Was there anything that kind of made you choose this program over maybe some of the other programs out there? Uh, was there anything that maybe stood out to you?
Yeah, well, if I'm being honest, I've. I've taken other programs before. Okay.
Yeah. Cool.
Not to name names, but I mean, like, I've done programs where it's something similar to this, where we're doing one on one sessions. I've done programs where, you know, you join a group, you know, a mastermind. And I've done it for other industries, too, because I've. I've had other businesses that. That have failed. Right. But to answer your question, what really kind of pushed me over the fence into where I wanted to do this was actually the. The. The first sales call. You know, the first call with. With Hakeem, he. He didn't sell me. It was more so just like, there were certain things that he asked me where I was. Kind of like, huh, that's. That's a good question. You know, like, what am I going to do?
Yeah.
If I don't make a change now, like, what are the ramifications of that? I mean, I mean, just like, just being caring, but then also just asking these simple questions that kind of got my brain going. I was like, oh, geez, this is. This is it. So he was actually. And I say this all the time to him, Hakeem was the reason why I joined. You know, obviously you. You too, Eric.
You're. No, I. Dude, I want my team to have all the credit. I don't want any of the credit. Like, let my team have the credit. Absolutely. Yeah. A hundred percent.
He was the One. Yeah, he was the one.
We still. I still talk to Hakeem, and he always brings you up. He's like, dude, like, how's Dan doing? Like, what's going on? What are the deals he's working on? And we. Yeah, we love you, man. Um, I guess with, like, was there anything within what we did? Cause I know you've done a lot of role plays and mock calls with Ethan. Was there anything about the program that was kind of particularly helpful to you, that that kind of stood out?
Yeah, I think. I think just that, you know, I was thinking about it the other day is the. The times in my life where I felt like I wasn't going anywhere, and the times where I felt like I was really stagnant. I wouldn't say failure. That. That's a little too hard.
No, you learn from every single thing that you do. So it's not a failure. It's. It's always a learning experience every single time.
Exactly. And I feel like those times in my life, and not to get too, like, out there, but those times, I always felt like I was comfortable, you know, I was. I was very just like, oh, like, I'm good. This is great. But with your program, like, I was put in many uncomfortable.
We were pushing you, man. Let's go. Yeah.
I love it.
And I think you're right. It just comes down to being uncomfortable and pushing yourself out of that, you know?
Yeah, yeah. And. And it pushed me. It pushed me. It made me get out of that. That zone. And then there's another word to. To talk about. I mentioned it in the group is obsessed, you know? Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
I was and still am obsessed when it comes to handling objections. Like, you have, you know, not to give everything away, but you have, like, some. Some videos, and the videos kind of help. Help us master objections. But I watched two or three every day, and I would write them down. I would practice them in front of the mirror. I would practice them, you know, with my wife. She would never want to do it, but I would force her to do it. Like, we're gonna. We're gonna role play this. Okay. I would do it when I'm working out, when I'm in the shower, like, everywhere, man. Like, I was just obsessed. And it honestly helped. Helped a lot, dude.
I'm obsessed too. And I think a lot of our most successful clients are obsessed. And I think if you're gonna do this, you have to be obsessed. You can't half ass it, you know? And I think you try to get anywhere in life, you have to be obsessed. You gotta be a little bit crazy because that's what gets stuff done. You know, it's not just, like, coming in here and, you know, I mean, I'm. I'm criticized by people all the time. Or like, you're just, you know, you work too much or you're obsessed with this thing, or you do. It's like, yes, I am, because I love it, and I want it to be the best it can possibly be. And I love that you take in that. That attitude, man. I think that's. That's perfect. It's. It's great. Kind of a weird question, but I guess, like, where would you say. I mean, if you hadn't taken action and done this? Because obviously it's a big step. It's scary. There's. You know, you get nervous when you're going to make a change. But I guess where. Where do you feel like you would have been if you hadn't done something or taken the lead?
Man, I don't even want to think about it. But I mentioned this before. It's like, you know, before joining the program, I was. I was charging, like, nothing, man. I was charging like, five.
I think you said it was five. Like 500, 600 bucks, right? Yeah.
The most I think I ever charged was like, 1200. But. But then, like, to answer your question, I could probably still be doing that, you know, And. And I. And like. And if I'm being super honest about it, too, the things that I've learned and the things that you've taught me personally, I probably would have. Probably would have learned it.
Yep.
It's just like, would it.
Would have.
Would have. Would have. It taken me, like, I don't know, it would have maybe taken me 20 years, 10 years, 50. Like, who knows?
Maybe five, three, you know, and that's what I tell people, too. It's like, I'm not. It's not a magic pill, right? It's just we're holding your feet to the fire, showing you a path that's already worked. Because, like, I feel like you can have different pieces of the path, but if they don't all add up, you're not. It's not going to work. Right. And so that's where it's like, you either pay in time or you pay in money. And, you know, I've paid in both. I've. I've been stubborn and I've paid in time, and then I've been, you know, not stubborn and paid in money and gotten a better Result. And yeah, I think. I think you're right because you're a smart guy, man. Like, you definitely would figure it out. I think a lot of people would figure it out. It's just. It just, like, do you want to spend years of your life trying to figure it out or just pay in money, which is something that can be replenished with one deal, Right. And then have this figured out for. For the rest of your life? You know what I mean?
Yeah. And let's, let's. Let's go in on that, because, I mean, you talk about time. Like, I don't have a lot of time, man. I mean, do I. I want.
I want time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm.
I'm married. I have two kids under three. Like, I, you know, I'm this. I am the sole provider of my family. Like, I.
There's.
I don't have time. I love basketball. I can never watch it because, like, it's. I. I'd rather focus on building this business and spending time with my family than. Than watching, you know, the next Sacramento Kings game. You know what I mean? Like, even though I love them, but, like, that's, that's the kind of the. The thought process I had when joining was like, hey, man, like, I'm either going to put in the time or I'm going to put in the money. And, like, I. I have to do one or the other. I don't have a lot of time right now. Yeah.
Yeah, that makes sense, man. One last question. I'll let you go because I know you got more, More deals to close here, man. Um, if anybody is maybe, like, on the fence, they're watching this. They're on the fence about maybe booking a call with us and just speaking with us. Like, what advice would you give based on your experience?
Love that question. It's one of the questions I use for testimonials.
We gave you.
Yeah, yeah. You guys gave me the case study. I love it.
Yeah.
Yep, yep. Yes, sir. I think for me, it's number one, what do you have to lose? You know, it's a phone call. Number two, you know, this program that you have, Eric, it's not going to be for everyone. Yeah. It's just not. You may not be a good fit. That's just. That's just the reality. Right? So for me, like, I say, hey, like, if this is something that you want to do, this is something that fits in with you, and, you know, you're able to make. Make it work, then great, give them a call. But at the end of the day, you know, like, it's. It's just the beginning. I tell my wife all the time, and I don't know where I got this, but I tell her, you know, if you treat everything like the beginning, it's never the end.
You know, when.
When we got married, I was like, this is the beginning. When we had a kid, this is the beginning. And then, like, we're. I'm going to keep saying it, but you closed that.
I mean, I remember. Cause it was a couple days ago, you closed that first 10k deal, and you're like, it's just the beginning. And then literally two days later, you closed the $48,000 deal, and you're like, it's. And it really is, dude. It's just the beginning. Because the beautiful thing is, is once you have these skills, as cheesy as it sounds, once you have them, you have them. You know what I mean? Like, once you've. You. You have the sales ability to close deals, you can make money whenever you want to make money, because you've done it. And obviously, we're always trying to improve, but once you have it, and that's. Nobody can take that away from at the end of the day, right? I love it, man. Well, I appreciate your time today. And just the beginning. We'll end with that. And yeah, dude, I appreciate you. I can't wait to see where you go from here.
