Short spoken advice (single-speaker) aimed at video business owners, videographers, and filmmakers: shift from simply taking clients' orders to prescribing strategic video solutions. The speaker argues this requires an identity change—from "creator" to trusted advisor—using the doctor-vs-server metaphor and urging creators to recommend the best type of content to achieve client outcomes rather than passively executing requests.

So one of the biggest mistakes I see from video business owners, videographers and filmmakers when they're going to land a new client is that they constantly rely on taking orders from the client as opposed to actually prescribing a solution. And I think this comes down to the identity of the person. But you need to switch your identity from someone who just creates videos to someone who creates strategy and advises the client on what you think is going to be the best video for them to achieve whatever outcome they want to achieve. And so you need to stop being an order taker and instead be someone who is going to prescribe a solution, kind of like a doctor would prescribe a surgery based on the things that they found wrong with the patient. So when you're going to create content for your clients, you want to make sure that you're advising them on the best type of content for them, as opposed to just taking an order like a server at a restaurant would. So think of that next time that you talk to your client, make sure that you're really prescribing a solution as opposed to just creating content for them. That's kind of pointless.
