Eric Deeran argues there are two ways to do anything: pay someone who already learned through trial-and-error, or spend years figuring it out yourself. Time is more finite than money, so buying expertise compresses years of learning into weeks.

I heard this quote from one of my mentors, and the quote was, there's two ways to do anything in this life. There's the smart way and there's the dumb way. The dumb way is to continuously do the same things over and over and over again without success. The smart way is to pay someone who's already went through the trial and error and buy their time to save yours. So let's say someone spends 10 years to learn a skill. You can either pay in time, as in 10 years yourself, to learn that same skill, or you can pay that person for the 10 years of knowledge for that skill to learn that that skill in a month, as opposed to 10 years. The dumb person will look at the price that they pay to learn that skill from that person and say, that's not worth it. I'm gonna do it myself. And they're gonna spend 10 years trying to learn that skill. But what the dumb person doesn't realize is that they're paying in something that's way more valuable, which is time. And you can never get time back. There's a finite amount of time that we have left on this earth, but with money, you can always make more money.
