A short personal-opinion YouTube video arguing that affirmations alone are ineffective. The speaker (Eric Deeran) claims people often use affirmations to feel better temporarily (e.g., after conferences) but real confidence comes from repeated practice, failure, and iterative learning rather than mirror-based positive statements.

My issue with affirmations, and this is just my personal opinion. You can take it, leave it, you can hate me. I might get some pushback for this. But I think affirmations by themselves don't do anything, because a lot of people try to use affirmations as a way of making themselves feel better about something. Now, one of the main examples of this is if you've ever went to a business conference or a conference of any kind, right? You. You get really excited while you're there. But what happens when you get home? After a week or two weeks, that excitement starts to fade. So the only way to really get confident about something is by doing it a lot of times, so it becomes second nature. Not by looking in the mirror and saying, I am good at this. I am good at this. I am good at this. When you're doing something, a lot of times you're getting really good at it. You're failing at it. You're figuring out what's working, what's not working. That's what builds the confidence.
