In this commentary, the speaker predicts that by 2026 Gen Z will largely abandon the pursuit of traditional employment in favor of building their own businesses. The argument is grounded in rising living costs—housing, groceries, car expenses—making a 60‑hour workweek barely sufficient for survival. Faced with these economic pressures, Gen Z perceives entrepreneurship as a less risky path that offers control over destiny. The speaker urges parents to understand and support their children’s entrepreneurial ambitions rather than view them as lazy, emphasizing the need for empathy and encouragement. The video concludes with a call for viewer feedback.

Here's my prediction for 2026, and that is Gen Z in 2026, they're not going to be chasing jobs anymore. They're going to be building them. And when you look at it, it makes a lot of sense. Think about it. Housing costs are going up. Rent has gone up 22% in the last 4 years alone. Groceries are up, car insurance, car maintenance, all of that. There's not one bill that we have in our life that has really, like, stayed the same or gone down. And so when they're looking at getting a traditional job, they're thinking, I have to work 60 hours a week just to barely survive? That does not look safe to me. I don't want to do that. And they're looking at entrepreneurship and they're saying, that looks like a better path for me because then I have control over my destiny and I can make a go of it. So while it seemed risky back when I was growing up, under the lens of Gen Z, they're seeing it as less risky. And that's an important distinction. And that's why I think there are going to be more and more entrepreneurs in 2026. So when your daughter or son comes to you and says, "I don't want a traditional job," they are not being lazy. They are adapting. And it's important for us as parents not to judge them, to understand the pressure that they are under, and respect that. And support the courage they have to go out and do something on their own. So that's my prediction for 2026. Let me know what you think in the comments. I'll see you in the next video.
