Market pulse for February 19th which is Thursday Markets witnessed a broad based and largely unexpected sell off yesterday with indices remaining under pressure from starting to the end of the day and the sudden weakness appeared to be driven by either profit booking, heavy selling from the FIIs which are your foreign institutional investors. Also US Iran tensions regarding the war related the geopolitical tensions and the growing investor concern around rising crude oil prices where it has reached from $67 to $71 now a quick wrap. Nifty Junior fell by around 1.8%, mid caps down by 1.5%, small caps by 1.19 and Bank Nifty by 1.32%. Despite the decline, the broader trend remains structurally positive. Now looking at the safe haven't shift as equity is corrected, investors rotated into precious metals. So yesterday gold has closed at 15,580 rupees per gram and also silver has appreciated by around 2.47% yesterday. Now looking at the entire market breadth and sector view, selling was widespread across the board. The nifty next 50 heat map was entirely red highlighting the intensity of the decline. Sectoral indices also closed lower falling between 0.5% to 2.5%. Now if you look at the stock specific action, yes yesterday one of the stock which stood well is ONGC which closed as a single gainer benefiting from from the uptick in oil prices. IT stocks showed relative resilience declining less sharply than the earlier broader market. Nugen Software also emerged as a mover of the day. Apart from ONGC Nugen Software there are some more companies which closed in positive newsen closed Yesterday by around 20% up move. With the backing of Middle east order WINS and ongoing AI driven market enthusiasm as oil has moved from 67 to $71 on FIAs of a US Iran attack, the scale of the market moved surprising to everyone. After starting to look slightly better and attempting to consolidate near the 26,000 level, the market has been sold off again. So it's a time where we will be little bit more cautious than being more aggressive in the market.
