If you like kale, you can thank Pizza Hut for that, because 30 years ago, pizza Hut was the only business buying kale. In fact, 70% of kale purchases made 30 years ago were made by Pizza Hut. They took all that kale and put it right alongside all that super cheesy, doughy pizza in their buffet line. But fast forward to about 10 years ago, this incredible woman named Oberon Sinclair decided to start a campaign for kale. In fact, she started the American Kale Association. She wanted everybody to start eating more kale, and she did something about it. Her campaign was extremely successful. So successful that Beyonce started wearing a sweatshirt that said kale right on the front. And farmers started growing 2, 3, 4 times the amount of kale within just a few years. Nowadays, you can find kale in almost 400 products in the grocery store, but the best place to find it is in your garden.
