When you run out of room to plant in your own garden, it just makes sense to create a garden for your neighbor. I started out by quickly leveling the space and put together all the boards for this 4x4x2-foot cedar raised bed. I was so proud. Then I sealed all the boards so they last for years. I emptied my big old composter for the base of the bed, and then I added leaves and straw bales. I put in an obelisk trellis in the center and topped off the bed with my 103 soil blend. Then my favorite part, the plants. I put loads of herbs and flowers along the border of each side. Then I planted some Swiss chard and kale in all the corners. I popped in some garlic and of course a lot of lettuce, and then I planted pea seeds to climb up the trellis. I finished off with a few more seeds because why not? If you wouldn't mind making a living helping your neighbors set up their gardens too, then I've got something special for you in the caption.
