Dear Aquarist, welcome to my next cage on fish diseases already 137. And today I will talk about a red rainbow, Glossolapis. So for those who love rainbows, watch this video because this is a feature that can occur with your rainbow fish or other aquarium fish. And I explain my findings in the following video where I will share my screen now and show you my PowerPoint that I prepared for you. And the Glossolapis in seizures here, where we're gonna talk about today, had gill flukes, internal worms and bacterial infection, maybe secondary. So watch my next slides so you understand what disease we can find here. The Glossolepis in seizures. Notice this skinny fish, the one with discoloration, black color. Look how skin he is and weaken it. And he is suffering and he will die in the coming hours. And that's the fish you have to take out and to do your examination with. And here you see it then swimming here in the collected bowl. And you can see that this fish is dying. And you can see the extended gill covers. And then you see a case like extended gill covers. You might expect something is wrong in the gills. That's the time you have to do that examination. First we took a skin scraping and we watched a fluke. And we looked very closely. We saw that it was not a skin fluke, but a gill fluke, a type of dactylogy with the four spotted eyes here and a kind of egg inside. So that is a type of gill fluke on the skin. That gives us a warning when we see gill flukes on the skin, we might expect many gill flukes, so many that sometimes they appear also on the skin. And you have to know that because medications can be different for skin flukes or gill flukes. And here you find some more gill flukes here at the end. And here at the end, on different parts of the gill branches. Here we see the more close detail. We could see that it's a type of dactylogy, kind of gill fluke. And by some of them you can see the eggs inside. So it takes time before this fluke can reproduce in the aquarium. And that's why you have to watch out for treating. At least you have to treat during 10, 14 days. So you also kill the eggs and the worm larvae that appears at the same time. When gill flukes are on the gills, they can damage the gills. And then secondary bacterial infections can occur. Like here you see those badly damaged gills. No gill flukes, but anymore but bacteria. And previously there might have been gill flukes damaged that tissue so the bacteria could penetrate. And internally we found nematodes, young Camelanus worms. And they came because there is Camelanus in the aquarium spreading around. And at the same time we saw bad organs, see the bad spleen, you saw the bad liver. Well, it's all with bacterial infections that occur probably due to the weakening of the fish after the parasitic infection kill flukes and at the same time nematodes and then bacteria in the gills and then bacteria internally. So what treatment can you do well for this very weak fish? No treatment will help because it's too weak. Even the medication can even stress. Stress that fish more. And it might be even killed by the medication. Not because the medication is toxic, but because the fish is too weak. So better to put this fish asleep like a product Narcomore plus, which is a gentle tranquilizer from Accorded Muenster. You can try a treatment with Prazikanthel because. Oh, I wrote it wrongly here Parazi can tell Gerald Prazikanthel which this can kill the external flukes and also the internal nematodes. You can see the details in my books. How to treat. Try to combine with an antibacterial medication. Ask your shop or your fish doctor and help this rainbow fish with a functional food with our Dr. Basler Bishop Food. Garlic. The garlic. But that helps. That helps the fish to fight off the worms and to regenerate. So these are all suggestions I can give you in handling this problem with the Glossolepis. Read my books in different languages available on our website. And maybe you can learn more at my Patreon channel when you want to become a more professional fish keeper. So I thank you for watching this video and you learned hopefully another lesson and another case of fish diseases. Take care and see you next time. Bye bye.
