Gerald Bassleer presents a case (goldfish Carassius) that was wasting away. He documents external signs (skinny, decoloration, black markings, scale deformities) and dissection findings: enlarged kidney and organs containing many small dark spots and numerous tubercles in spleen, liver and kidney. He interprets these tubercles as most likely Mycobacterium (fish tuberculosis) but notes laboratory confirmation was not performed. He emphasizes prevention, improved nutrition/immune support, and breeder-level measures; offers his books, videos and consultancy for further guidance.

Hello. Dear Akaris, dear fish keeper, today a case about a goldfish, a goldfish that was wasting away and showing serious problems. So I share you my findings with my PowerPoint so you can see the fish. And well, the observations I made with using my microscope. The goldfish is wasting away due to massive tubercles in the organs. Information about fish diseases. Read my books and you become a specialist. Yes, you will learn more. Here, see the goldfish, it is skinny, has some decoloration, some black markings, and you see it's dying. The fish is wasting away. And perfect example to use for examination because a few thousand were waiting to stay healthy or to get a good treatment. Well, let's see what I found. The first thing I found was the scales, which scales had some deformation, some gaps, and that is usually referred to a problem with not taking up the good nutrients that sometimes might be a problem in the gut or in the the microbiome or in the organs. So the fish doesn't take up the necessary nutrients to have a healthy body and a healthy scale. So that's a symptom. You can see here on the scales. You cannot see it as a disease. But as a secondary point of problem, we found that when dissecting the fish and taking away the part of the body, you could see a very enlarged spleen, sorry, kidney. This is the kidney above the swim bladder here. And the organs were well filled with little small black particles, which is not normal. And I show you on the next slide where I the organs. Here, the spleen, here a part of the liver, and here a part of the kidneys. And you see all the black markings, the black spots in all those organs, which is not normal, should be clear reddish or brown or orange tissue. And here we could see that the spleen had a massive amount of tubercles. That's a tubercle, most likely mycobacterium. And you can see it's encapsulated, so hardly any medication can reach it. The organ is defending itself against the affection. So the fish has a defense. Yes, but at the same time has healthy tissue is taken away. Here is the liver with tubercles. Look at that. Big parts of the liver are gone. And the same for the kidney, all the tubercles in the kidney. This is a terrible situation. That organs are all very bad condition. So it has an advanced stage of mycobacterium, or fish tuberculosis. Why did I put a question mark? Yes, because only a laboratory can confirm. We didn't send it for confirmation to the laboratory. I don't do it for all those fish I have in my hands. I would lose a lot of time, a lot of money. And I usually go around my findings in my history of studies and in Tubercles is in 90% of the cases it's Mycobacterium. That's what many studies shows by other professionals. Still, if you're a breeder and you're a specialist, you have to send it to the laboratory to define and maybe to check for an antibiotic that might try to cure it. But you know, when the tubercle is there, no medication can reach. So as a breeder, you must look at the source here. It's too late to cure, but you can take preventative actions. If you're a breeder, ask me as a consultant. I can help you because this disease is difficult to cure. See all my videos on Mycobacterium. I will show below in the description a link. If not, you can look at my YouTube channel and just write down Mycobacterium. You will find my different videos on this subject. Some phys doctors recommend certain antibiotics, but prevention at the breeder side, that's the main thing. You can help the less infected fish with a functional fish food that helps well to improve the immunity. And maybe the less infected fish which carry a few tubercles might do much better. You can do that to improve the immunity of the fish with Dr. Basler Bi fish food Fuko so my books can help you more in understanding fish diseases and how to treat. You can subscribe to my channel to learn more. You also can get a special training at my fish doctoring channel at Patreon. So thank you for watching this video on a goldfish which was, well, badly sick. Take care.
