Fish disease case nr. 227 Macropodus, Paradise Fish, with gill flukes and bacterial infection

Gerald Bassleer examines an albino paradise fish with gill flukes and bacterial infection. The fish shows reddened gills and organ damage: a dark spleen, pale necrotic liver, and kidney tubercles. Treatment starts with antibacterial therapy first, then gill fluke medication after several days, plus garlic-supplemented food.

Hello, dear Agorist, today you selected my case on Macropolis, a paradise fish that was suffering from parasites and bacteria. And I show you my findings when I share my screen and my PowerPoint that the Macropodus, which is here in my case 227, was infected with guilt flukes and had very bad organs due to bacterial infection. Most likely details on fish diseases you can find in my books and you can study for yourself how to solve the problems here. The Macropodus, the albino paradise fish were very nervous, some became skinny and eventually died. So we pulled out a very serious damaged one which was going to die in the coming hours or days. And that's the one we take out for examination. You look that fish doesn't look healthy anymore. And at the first few of the gills there were some reddish gills. And the main thing, what troubled us that we found several gill flukes. You can see them at different parts already moving around and sitting on the gill tissue here. Another part of the gills, you see more flukes here. Well, a fluke can be a serious damage and they can become a more serious infection the days later on when they multiply by laying eggs. After a week it can be very serious. So this is not very bad, but it's a problem for the fish. At the same time we found internally in the organs a very bad spleen. Look how dark it is. And very pale necrotic liver. Also the kidneys we found some tubercles like here and here in different parts of the kidney. Well, this is not looking very healthy. This is a problem that this fish has different infections. So what can we do with a treatment for this kind of fish? Well, some paradise fish suffer more than others. It's not yet advanced for many fish. Some. Some are still pretty healthy for now, but that might change in the coming weeks if you don't take actions honestly to see that fish. It's a poor tank raised fish, poor quality. It's an albino variety. And I've seen in my history as work as a fish doctor many problems with all those color varieties of. Yeah, of Macropodus. First of all, I recommend to treat the bacterial infection and the few Gulf looks might be a secondary infection due to the weakening of the immune system of the fish due to the bacterial infection. And then you might of course treat that gill fluke infection one week or five days after your antibiotic or antibacterial treatment. Ask your fish doctor or your good specialist at a pet shop to help you. At the same time you can help the less infected fish which are still eating well, to give them a functional fish food that helps during the disease and that can improve their immunity. And we recommend here, Dr. Basler buy fish food, garlic.
