Gerald Bassleer (video author) documents goldfish and Shubunkin heavily infected with visible tubercles in multiple organs (kidney, spleen, liver), attributed to Mycobacterium (fish tuberculosis). He narrates clinical signs (some fish sluggish/skinny while many appear outwardly normal), shows gross and microscopic lesions, and advises lab confirmation (mentions a lab test cost of about €150). He states there is no reliably effective treatment, recommends euthanasia for severely affected fish, warns of vertical transmission through eggs, urges breeders to control infected broodstock, and promotes his books, a specialist feed (Dr. Basler biofish food Fuko), and a Patreon training channel for further learning.

Hello, dear aist Dear Goldfish keeper. Yes, Today you selected a video about goldfish and what kind of problems I have found these fish. Well, it's very special and it's not so nice looking. Yes, it's something that amazed me when I diagnosed these fish, that my findings made me aware that we should report this problem to the industry because it's something. We should be aware that the breeder is the cause of the problem and the breeder should be informed to take well care of this kind of infection that we found in this goldfish. We checked the yellow goldfish and we checked the Shubunkin and we found many tubercles in the organs caused by mycobacterium. Yes, most likely Mycobacterium or fish tuberculosis. About this disease. I made specific chapters in my books on fish diseases and those are available in different languages. So if you want to have more details, try to get my books. And here we see shubukin fish swimming. Well, in general they look okay. In general we cannot see not a specific problem except this skinny one here. You see this one swimming. A few are getting weaker. And here is then one who is getting a sluggish, you can say the behavior. Look at that one here. Try to follow it. It's not behaving normally and it will die in the coming days. The other ones look, well, pretty, pretty healthy. That's how it looks like. They're not showing any bad signs, but they already had most likely also the infection going on. This is the fish we take out for examination. We also found goldfish from the same breeder facility. And we found when we opened the fish all those wide big spots. Look at them all white big spots in the organs. Here is another part of the dissection. Here you see the kidney with all the white big spots which are eventually tubercles. And here also in the spleen, in the liver. Here, here is another part. We see them here all around, around. Next in the liver parts, next to the intestine, the gut. And here there is more of those tubercles. And here and here, well, the fish was fully loaded with tubercles. And when we take out those organs here from this shubunkin, we did the same thing with the yellow goldfish. We found those big tubercles in the different organs. Here on the left is the kidney. Here in the middle it's the spleen. And here on the right is the liver. And all tubercles we could see with the naked eye and in a microscope. That's how the Liver look like. Can you imagine how badly that organ is affected? And here I take you through an examination of the kidney full of tubercles. Then we go to the spleen full of tubercles. Look how many tubercles are affecting this body, this part of that fish. And giving a serious infection. Well, those fish are wasted away. And even a medication. Well, you know, I'll explain will not work. Well, the treatment of such goldfish. Well, the fish that are dying, well, it's because the organs are so badly damaged, full of tubercles. And most likely it's mycobacterium or it's fish tuberculosis. You can send it to the lab, they can confirm it for you. Might cost about €150 up to you to decide for the breeding supporter that they should find out what have I been creating and what should I do? And you only know what to do, because when you diagnose properly the disease, you know what actions to take. Because the serious, badly affected fish you should put to sleep. So take care, take part of it. As a breeder, you should control the infected parent fish who are passing on the disease through the ovaries. The mother fish passing it on to the baby fish already in the eggs. I explained that in my other videos here to see on YouTube about fish tuberculosis or mycobacterium. If you look that up, you will find more videos and details how I explain that. And there is no effective treatment that I can recommend. Although people some tried antibiotics and some might have results. But I doubt it, because I presume that the more healthy fish, the less infected fish will continue to survive. And not showing particular signs for a long time. Could be, yes, the solution the breeder needs to take actions to prevent. You can help the more healthy fish? Yes, those of which are little infected, they might stay well alive for a long time or permanently because they only have very few tubercles. Maybe recommend for you to use our Dr. Basler biofish food Fuko which has ingredients that are functional in the help for this fish. So learn about fish diseases in my books. The link link is below. Or you can learn more at my fish doctoring training channel patreon. Com Bar Girl Basler, where you can learn about many different things on fish diseases. So I hope this video explain you something. Since I work as a consultant in the industry. I try to consult the industry, but also you, the person who is watching this video, what nasty diseases can occur in our fish and what we can learn from it. Thank you for watching.
