YouTube video by Gerald Bassleer (speaker with occasional input from 'Speaker B') presenting a fish disease case involving a South American catfish identified as Pimelodella pictus (also spoken as Pictus/Pibladella). The fish shows severe bacterial infection focused on the gills, with additional tail rot and internal organ (liver and spleen) involvement. Bassleer recommends euthanizing very badly affected individuals (mentions Narcomore plus), and consulting a pet shop, fish doctor or veterinarian for antibacterial/antibiotic treatment; he also promotes supportive foods/supplements (Basler biofish food, grapefruit seed extract, moringa), his books, and a Patreon channel for deeper training.
Questions this video answers
Case number 263 (he says: "this fish disease case number 263").
Hello, dear aquarist, thank you for watching this fish disease case number 263 where I will talk about a South American catfish, the Pimlodella pictus or the Angelicus catfish. So many different names for this nice looking catfish which we usually get from Colombia. And I show you my findings in the PowerPoint that I prepared for you. And it's the Pictus bibladella with a severe bacterial infection in the gills. Yes, the gills is a touchy part of the fish that might well show some lesions that are deadly for the fish. Details on fish diseases, the diagnosis, the preventions, the treatments, all you about that, all about that you can learn in.
My books available in different languages.
The link is below. Here we see the pictures that is wasting away and dying. You see how skinny it looks. Other pictures look not so bad. Still moving around happily looking for food. But they might come down in the next coming days or weeks because there is an infection going on. And we found in some parts of the tail we found some tail rot. This is the tail which is rotten away by bacteria. But the most affected part that we found were the badly damaged gills. You could see the bacterial infection in the gills, the gill tissue that is.
Devoured by the bacteria.
Bad lesions have caused causing a serious damage to the fish. And at the same time the internal organs were also infected with bacteria. The liver on the left and on the right here, the spleen. So the fish of course is going to die because its serious bacterial infection cultivates that fish. So the very badly affected fish, like the one I showed you, you should put asleep, gently asleep. Euthanize with a product like Narcomore plus or other kind of medications as can your pet shop. You can apply an antibiotic treatment because.
You need to have a good antibacterial.
Product to control this infection. Ask your pet shop, fish doctor or veterinarian and you can help with the food. Yes, food helps the fish to repair, helps the fish to fight off the disease. And here we would recommend or Dr.
Or you can learn it through my Patreon channel where I teach Phish doctoring the causes of Phish diseases for you, particularly when you are a dealer or an importer. Very important. But if you want to specialize yourself in fish disease diagnosis, go to my Patreon channel. So I thank you for watching this video.
