Video case presentation (case #275) by Gerald Bassleer examining a bacterial infection in Oryzias (Medaka/rice fish). The speakers document clinical signs (stressed fish, weight loss, respiratory distress), gross pathology (gill lesions, damaged liver and spleen, infected eggs/ovaries), and microscopy (100x–200x showing multiple motile bacteria, rod-like and small dot forms). They discuss likely contributing causes (poor food, water quality, overcrowding), recommend an antibacterial treatment and supportive functional feeds (Dr. Basler Biofish Fuko; grapefruit seed extract; Moringa), and point viewers to books and a Patreon channel for more training.

Hello, dear Akarist, today you join me.
To see a video on a diseased.
Medaka rice fish, orisias, which has become.
Popular in our aquarium hobby.
So I will show you my findings.
With my PowerPoint that hopefully explains you what we can find with the help of the microscope.
And today, in this case 275, we show the Oridzias medaka or rice fish.
With a bacterial infection.
Details on fish disease, diagnosis, prevention and treatment is all available in my books that are available in different languages.
See the link below or you can order them.
Here we see the origins, Lativermilium, that's the beautiful name.
And you see they are getting stressed.
Some become skinny and die. You see in the back, some of the bottom here.
But this rice fish was suffering and.
We took some out for examination.
You see the stressed respiratory symptoms. Fish was slowly getting skinny and some losses were reported.
We examined the gills and we could see some lesions in the gills on different parts.
You can see it on the left and here also below. Some parts of the gills are not healthy looking and some of the tips were completely rotten away. You can say, look at this part.
Here, this gill is not functioning at all.
And also this part here on the left, that means the fish will suffocate and will have no chance to have.
A good gas exchange internally.
We found bacterial infections like here in.
The ovaries you see some eggs, but.
Some eggs already, how can I say, invaded with bacteria. And we saw a lot of bacteria population internal. We saw it also in the spleen. We saw this bad spleen here, sorry.
The bad liver on the left.
And on the right we see the.
Bad spleen here, which is the organs.
Affected by bacterial infection.
And here we show the bacteria in a video on a 100 magnification, 200 magnification. You can see the many tiny black spots moving and around and some little steps or rods. So we saw maybe two, three different kinds of bacteria that have an effect and infecting the organs of the fish.
Causing of course disease and the dying of the Oreas. So we have to check what is.
The origin of the bacterial infection. That's what I try to teach in.
My holistic approach when you deal with fish diseases.
Maybe there was bad food involved, maybe bad water conditions, maybe overcrowding. You have to check or check with your supplier.
An antibacterial medication will be necessary.
Sometimes an antibiotic can. Ask your fish doctor or your your aquarium shop for advice.
You can help with a functional fish.
Food that helps the fish to repair. And we could recommend in this case, Dr. Basler Biofish food Fuko or grapefruit seed extract Moringa.
My books help you to understand and.
To treat fish diseases.
The link is below where you can order them. You can get more training and more experience in fish diseases at my Fish Doctoring Patreon Channel.
So I hope this video about this.
Diseased Medaka rice fish help you to.
Understand a bacterial infection. Thank you for watching.
