Gerald Bassleer presents Case 96: a Pearl gourami (new scientific name given as Trichopodus lari) suffering severe gill damage and systemic organ lesions. He documents emaciation, gill tissue eaten away by bacteria, undigested gut contents, splenic abnormalities and liver hemorrhages, and suggests the primary cause may be a viral infection with secondary bacterial overgrowth; laboratory confirmation for viral agents is recommended. Practical recommendations include humane euthanasia for moribund fish (product: NarcoMore plus), treating secondary bacterial gill infections with appropriate antibiotics or antibacterial products (example: Viromorph), and supporting immune/gut health with supplements (Dr. Bassleer bites for Fuko, grapefruit seed extract, moringa).

Hello. Dear Akaris, today we have a beautiful background of Moscow, which I have a lot of agorist friends, which in the past did a very good job in helping me of explaining fish disease as a good diagnosis. For instance, Dr. Jungsis, Mr. Kochatov, some people I have a lot of respect for because they were a big part in my help of fish oven industry. And I hope the world these days will become at peace and that we can talk freely in the world with friends, no matter what's happening and avoiding any fights and have a good communication and resolving problems. Like I try to resolve problems on fish diseases. We, we can fight with the fish keeper, we can fight with the fish breeder or the supplier, but if he's supplying bad fish, we have to try to resolve it. And we can guide those breeders or suppliers of fish by giving them adequate information. When you encounter a problem with fish today I will have a problem to show you about the fish which coming from Asia and Asia, you know, has many breeders. And if you're breeding fish, you have a risk of also breeding problems. If you communicate well, you can help them to provide them with your information, with your resources that you give them the adequate information that some problems can be solved. So today it's about my case 96 already about the Pearl gourami with a bacterial infection and a possible viral infection. And you know, pearl gouramis is a nice fish. In our home aquarium, particularly in the community aquarium, the new scientific name is Trichopodus lari. It used to be called trichogaster, but here you see they become emaciated, very skinny. You can nearly see deformed, a very weak fish, and they die every day. You had a few losses. Look at this fish, how bad it looks. And some look still pretty healthy and pretty well in shape, but some look worse. So it can be a stage of the disease. We checked the fish and we found particularly the gills were very badly damaged. Some parts were completely gone, eaten away by bacteria. So bacterial infection was in fact at the end killing the fish because the gills were malfunctioning and the fish was not eating. And having a lack of food, of course, and a lack of food gives a lot of secondary problems like bacterial infection. Here is also already a part of that gill which is damaged by bacterial infection. Here some bleeding parts of the gill so well, that of course will kill eventually the protein grammy. And when we check the internal organs, we could see a lot of undigested food. So it looks like the microbiome is also not well functioning and Then so much food is not well digested. It should be at the end of the gut. It should be well digested and that we could find. And in the spleen we found a lot of Milano microfarch centers. So not much healthy tissue was available. Also you can see in the liver some red bleeding parts. So the organs were in very bad shape. Like here. This liver completely sure, bubby. This bleeding parts and some viral studies done. If you find those bleeding parts in the liver of efficiency, it can be a viral infection. How do we know? Well, we only know when you can send it to a laboratory to do a decent laboratory control. A laboratory check. So what can we do in this case? What can we apply as a treatment? Well, first of all, the very weak fish are suffering and they will not be responded to any treatment because they're not eating anymore. Also so they will be wasting away. It's better to put them to sleep, like with the help of a product of Narcomore plus, which is very safe and gentle to put your fees asleep. We suspect that the primary infection could be a virus. It's known in literature and in scientific studies that a rhinovirus erythro like here you can see is known as a possible cause of fish disease in gouramis from Asia. And a secondary bacterial infection can then appear. So the primary cause could be a viral infection. Of course we can try to treat the infection that kills the fish. And that's in this case the bacterial infection in the gills. You can ask your fish doctor for a good antibiotic or you can try the antibacterial medication like viromorph from aquarium muenster. The immune system and the gut microbiome should be optimized so the fish has a better defense, a better way of repairing. We recommend for you the Dr. Basler bites for Fuko or the grapefruit seed extract moringa or the professional treat to help for better fight against bacterial and viral infection to help the fish to improve the immune system. So some help you can do when the fish are still eating and still in a good cook reasonable condition. A further lab research for possible viral infection is suggested. So I hope this video helped you and my Patreon channel will also help you to become a more professional fish doctor. And I hope my my cases on fish diseases are worthwhile for you to become more informed about fish diseases or good diagnosis, prevention and a good treatment. Thank you for watching.
