Welcome to our live show!

George B. Thomas, Chris, and Casey break down HubSpot's product updates from late April 2026. The Custom Report Builder got nine usability improvements, a new Duplicate Similarity Score helps data quality, and the Sales Workspace got a major redesign. A public-beta Google Drive app now surfaces files directly on CRM records.

Shot while the world rotates. Your latest update, darling, so you're ahead, not late. You tuned in right, you tuned in great. This is your latest update.
Oh yeah, latest updates. Chris, Casey, how the heck are you guys doing today?
Happy May Day!
Oh, well, I guess I didn't even think about May Day. Uh, not in the May Day like I need help, but with 32 HubSpot updates, maybe you do, uh, yell May Day and need help. Uh, happy May Day to you as well, Chris. How are you doing?
I'm doing good. It is a new month for sure. Um, out of the birthday month. Um, oh, which, uh, are you one of those that whether I treat it like a whole month instead of one day. Maybe. I mean, why not?
I guess. I guess. I've got a friend that does that. Well, ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the show. Uh, latest updates. Um, listen, it is, uh, May Day. It is the beginning of a new month, but we have to talk about what happened at the very end of the month because we have 23. We're not going to cover all 23, but 23 product updates. I don't know why I said 32. Maybe I had a little spats of, uh, dyslexia or something happening for me this morning. But we're gonna unpack what happened from April 26th to the 30th or 31st-ish. We'll see what happens. And again, rather than marching through all of them, because we're kind of structured, maybe somewhat not structured, but rather than marching through all of them one by one, we did pull them this week into 3 big buckets. We realized last week 4 big buckets too many big buckets to try to get through in the little bucket of time that we have. Um, but we are going to talk about, uh, CRM reporting workflows, uh, how they're getting smarter, uh, more programmable. Second, we're going to go into data quality enrichment integrations, uh, and we're just going to keep on going through to bucket 3. And at the end, stick around at the end because we're going to talk about those that should be mentioned but maybe aren't in any type of bucket. So let me go ahead and share my screen so we can actually look at these as we are going through this. And here we go, there is our update screen. So the first update that we're going to talk about is the custom report builder usability improvements. That's the first thing. I've got it up right here. It is a join the beta, so we do need to hit that little like chime here. But Chris When we're talking about Custom Report Builder usability improvements, what the heck is this?
Uh, well, George, HubSpot has made the following improvements to the Custom Report Builder to simplify creating and editing reports. Uh, they even give you a Loom video overview here. This very nice changes are as follows. 9 of them, so buckle in. Add data fields via the plus icon. This will do a smart add of the property to start displaying your visualization. Note you still have to drag and drop and click to add fields in specific places. Option available, ability to shift to visualization only mode to see the full visualization instead of both the visualization and table below. How many more times I'm gonna have to say visualization.
Maybe a lot, maybe a lot.
Number 3, the builder has been organized into 3 explicit tabs. Uh, number 1, data, the central place to configure your properties for the visualization. Uh, number 2, style, all chart settings can be found here. Number 3, filters, add filters to the visualization here. Number 4, table will be the default selected visualization once you enter the report builder. Number 5, an AI summary option can be enabled to get insights into the visualization. Number 6, drag and drop improvements to make the drop area clearer. Number 7, design update on auto refresh behavior to make this option more noticeable for speed in building reports. Number 8, data source labels on fields more visible to clarify which data source the property is derived from. And number 9, cleaner view of empty state when you land into the Report Builder. And that's it for me, folks. I will see you next week.
You used all your words, uh, for like the entire like episode in this one update, but it's a dope update. Thank God we weren't playing the Chris drinking game with the word visualization. We really would have lost you. But Kasey, why does this matter to folks?
Custom Report Builder is a very powerful tool but can be complex to use to build reports. With these improvements, we are hoping this makes the report creation process simpler to create your desired reports and drive time to value.
How is the word visualization not in there?
I've never heard the word before.
Yeah. Yeah. So who gets it? A bunch of humans get it. Um, again, if you hit this beta, I would say go do that and definitely watch the Loom video, uh, for some even deeper understanding of the custom report builder usability improvements. Uh, guys excited? Uh, we need to come up with like a, uh, you know, thud or dud, but that doesn't work. Like, I don't even know, like what, you know, a thumbs up, thumbs down on the update type rhyme, but. Is this excite you? It's a meh. Is it a meh? Is it a weh? Like, what is it?
I'm excited because I hear a lot from a lot of humans that reporting and the custom report builder is a challenge in HubSpot. Yeah. I, I love the custom report builder, but I also acknowledge I'm someone who uses it every day. So I have that as an advantage.
You mean experience matters?
Oh, it does.
Okay.
Um, I will say, reading through this update, I'm skeptical if this is going to help the humans because the way that I see them— people struggling with the report builder.
Right, right. Chris, quick thoughts?
I trust Casey's judgment.
Well, there we go. All right, I too trust Casey's judgment as we move to New operators for conditional property logic. That is what we're talking about next, Chris. Hopefully you don't have to say the word visualization in this one. There is a huge dope screenshot at the very top of it, but, uh, maybe explain to the viewers, listeners, what the heck is this?
HubSpot is expanding the flexibility of conditional property logic. You can now use new operators like is known any of not equal to and is none of.
And Casey, why does this matter for HubSpot users?
Until now, conditional property logic was limited to is equal to checks. This made it challenging to enforce CRM data quality at scale, especially for teams managing complex workflows. With this update, you can build smarter, more flexible rules that capture more accurate data and speed up rep workflows. For example, if region is any of UK, Ireland, France, show EU compliance info. If customer type is not equal to partner, show billing info.
This feels like it gives us a level of flexibility that we once did not have. So I get kind of excited when that happens. Uh, there is a knowledge base, so you can click on that to learn more. And, uh, again, a whole bunch of humans get this. So Casey, Chris, thoughts on this? Update?
Expanded, uh, conditional functionality is always appreciated, I think, no matter where it shows up.
Yes, I would agree. Casey, would you agree as well?
I agree.
There we go. All right, moving on to the next one. Email workflows, uh, again is live, so we'll go ahead and do that. Oh, Chris, this is, this is your speed, my friend. Uh, what, what is, uh, email workflows?
Uh, you can now create workflows based around the one-to-one email object, but important note, yes, uh, this does not include the ability to send one-to-one emails from workflows.
Yes. And what's changed, Chris? Because we do have a little blue box up there. Is that what you're just basically telling everybody, is it's not the workflows Yeah, I'm sure they had that like the first day they published this.
They probably had to add that, add that note.
I feel like it should be like a glowing red box that like pulsates and like slides in and has a finger pointing at it because the amount of humans that got— by the way, I may or may not have been one of them— excited, uh, when we first got this. Anyway, Casey, why does it matter?
With this change, you can now trigger automation based directly on events such as emails being created Then you can use workflow actions to create standard automatic internal processes for email management.
Nice. Internal processes, ladies and gentlemen. That's bucket number 1, CRM reporting workflows automation. Let's move into bucket 2, data quality enrichment and integrations. Let's go ahead and see what's happening with enrichment activity log that HubSpot is now saying is live. Chris, what the heck is enrichment activity log?
You can now view a chronological log of all enrichment events in the portal showing when, how, and why records were enriched and by whom.
Oh, this feels like a layer of transparency to my credit usage. Uh, anyway, Casey, why does this matter?
Outside of transparency to your credit usage, uh, when property values change through enrichment, it can be difficult to trace when when the update happened, what triggered it, and who was responsible. The enrichment activity log gives you a single place to audit enrichment across your entire account so you can troubleshoot unexpected property changes, understand the timing and source of updates, and measure the impact of your data enrichment efforts.
Mm, yes, I would definitely go check out the How Does It Work, uh, if you're using enrichment, if you're worried about your credits, and you believe that the things that Casey just said matter to you as well. Again, I'm loving today. A whole lot of humans get this. Uh, this is a, uh, you get a car, you get a car, you get a car scenario on today's show so far with all these updates that we're having. Uh, let's go ahead and go into the next one, which is duplicate similarity score. I'm not even sure what that means with those words, but Casey, I You said you're getting excited or got excited about it before or after you clicked in?
No, the words. I liked, I liked those words together.
Okay, these 3 words. Okay.
Like scores.
It is a beta. It is a beta. So let's hit that. Chris, what are you trying to say there?
Uh, there is a new similarity score that users can filter the duplicate management table by. This score looks specifically at duplicates surfaced by the default HubSpot model.
Oh, nice. Casey, why does this matter?
The default HubSpot model for duplicate detection looks at a specific set of properties to identify what is a duplicate and what's not. Previously, we surfaced all contacts above a score of 30% similarity and all companies above a score of 80% similarity. But we never surfaced this data point to you. This led to many users thinking that our duplicate detection model as a bit of a black box. By surfacing the similarity score, you can now get more insight into why a duplicate is shown on the table and filter the table down to only view duplicates above a specific threshold so you can get more targeted with how you manage duplicates.
I like that there's some screenshots and we get a similarity score that we can see here now, which obviously this is the update. I think this is cool. Um, man, I can't wait till the day when AI is smart enough to actually just us not have duplicates. That would be dope. I don't know if we'll ever get there, but a man can dream. A man can dream. All right, let's go into the next one, which is new Google Drive app. I got excited when I heard those words and not even knowing what the heck it meant, uh, but new Google Drive app Chris, what is it for those who are just hearing those words in conjunction with HubSpot this morning?
The Google Drive app for HubSpot is now, uh, live, I think, uh, no longer in public beta. Uh, connect personal drives, shared drives, folders, and files to all object types. Automate file management through workflows and get Breeze-powered document summaries right from the middle panel card of your records.
Chris, are you telling me that MyPortal is lying to me because it says public beta right now? Is that what you're trying to sneakily say? I think it's live right now. Even George's portal is stupid.
It says live on my side.
That's crazy. MyPortal's lying to me. Casey, let's get past this. Why does it—
my date's different too. My date's like a month later.
Oh geez, what the heck?
Yeah.
Uh-oh. Do you have— okay, Casey, I'll get back to you in one second. Uh, Chris, are you on the new For You, Your Betas and All Updates version of the, uh, screen as well? Like, did you, did you, did you opt into the new product updates beta that I opted into? Are you in the old school product updates?
Look different.
Oh yeah. So, so ladies and gentlemen, There is a product updates beta that you can enroll in. Maybe you want to, maybe you don't, because it feels like mine might be broken, and I have no idea if it has anything to do with that. Anyway, new Google Drive app. Casey, why does this matter for humans?
Your team's documents and CRM data live in two different places, so reps waste time hunting for the right file or switching tabs to understand what a document says. This integration puts Drive documents right on the record reps are already working in, surfaces what's inside them without anyone having to click through, and lets workflows handle the file organization that slows your team down. And because you're linking to live cloud-based documents rather than static attachments, everyone always sees the latest version.
Look at that. How does it work? Definitely check out the, uh, blurred but awesome screenshot, uh, because obviously they didn't want you to see the files. Um, but this is nice if you are a Google Drive user. Who gets it? Uh, app is currently in public beta. That is, we don't know, it might be live, it might be in public beta, available to all HubSpot customers though.
Do we know what's different about the old app versus the new one?
The product updates? I don't know.
When I first— you mean old product updates or old Google Drive app?
Old Google Drive is what I mean.
Right?
When I read this, I was like, meh. But now that I've read through it, I was like, oh, this is different.
Yeah.
Because I think I've lost track of how many times they've said new Google blank app. Mm. Yeah. And this is like, this is super dope.
I got excited about this. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Okay, so that completes our bucket number 2, data quality enrichment and integrations. Let's move on to bucket number 3 because there's still some product updates that we want to talk about that didn't fit into any of these buckets. Uh, the first one, again, bucket 3, commerce, service, and sales workspace experience. First one we're going to talk about is sales workspace has been updated. Here's what's changed. By the way, They're calling this a major update. So, well, let's see how major it is, Chris. What the heck is it?
Uh, well, your Sales Workspace has been updated, uh, is updated today whenever you happen to be reading this, uh, to work directly with your SmartCRM. The workspace's custom-built interfaces like the Prospects tab, Deals tab, and Task playlists have been replaced with the native CRM index pages.
Why does this matter, Casey?
The Sales Workspace and your SmartCRM were two separate systems. This meant configuring views twice, training reps on two interfaces, and missing out on new SmartCRM features until they were custom rebuilt for the workspace. This update brings them together. One setup, one interface, one experience that stays current automatically.
Yeah, just so you know, this was a little bit of a hot pickle on the interwebs. Uh, and so we did an episode on the Hub Heroes podcast where Uh, we actually talked about the, uh, whole insanity of how people were losing their mind around this, but you should definitely check out this update. Hey Chris, you, uh, you still a big fan of Commerce Hub?
I am.
Yeah, kind of fell off.
Me too, me too. Check this out, request the beta. Let's go ahead and hit that because I am going to go ahead and request the beta here. Commerce Hub Billing portal is an update. Chris, what the heck is the Commerce Hub billing portal?
The billing portal lets your buyers self-serve billing requests. This saves you and your buyers time and builds buyer trust. Buyers can securely log in to view their subscriptions and invoices as well as update their payment method.
And Casey, before I, uh, ask you why does this matter, am I the only one in the room that feels like this is a major update? Like, what, what, what, what, what the heck is going on with that button? Casey, uh, why does it matter?
Buyers currently lack a self-service portal to manage payment details, resulting in time-consuming manual processes for both buyers and merchants. This empowers buyers to independently view billing and subscriptions, reduces failed payments, and improves compliance with regulations, and decreases support overhead for merchants.
Mm-mm-mm. Chris, what are your thoughts? Casey, what are your thoughts?
Oh, I was just going to say, I think it's not a major update because Commerce Hub is a forgotten.
Oh, watch out.
Dang. Shots fired.
I'm, I'm. It's not that it should be.
I mean, yeah, uh, I'm with you there. But yeah, this is super cool. Uh, one, one small, one small nitpick here.
Uh-oh, uh-oh.
Can we stop with the different names of the self-service portals? Oh, we've got, we've got Rooms, uh, we've got Portals. Like, yep, you're killing me. Uh, yeah, you know, Chris, to use consistent words with, yeah, with everybody trying to use HubSpot. Uh, it's portals. If somebody's logging in to do something online, it's a portal.
It's a portal. Yeah.
Yeah.
Uh, wouldn't it be nice if it was just all of them in one area and you could just, you could just flip some switches to the ones that you actually wanted to show up in the one portal instead of the many port— anyway, that's a wishlist item and not why we're here. Let's move forward on the show. Because we're trying to get through this bucket number 3 of Commerce, Service, and Sales Workspace experience, and we're going to talk about real messages no longer lost to spam. This was an issue. Oh my God. Um, anyway, what the heck is this, Chris?
HubSpot now automatically moves conversations out of spam when a legitimate message comes in. This situation previously could occur when a rep starts a conversation with a contact, the contact's vacation autoresponder sends back a message that gets the conversation marked as spam, and later the contact responds to their own autoresponder with a real message.
Wow, Casey, um, talk about— anyway, why does it matter?
Because customers won't wonder why you never responded. And refs won't waste time digging through the spam folder looking for real messages. That's—
yeah, short, sweet, makes sense to me. All hubs, all tiers. All right, before we move into the top 3 to watch, I want to ask you, Chris Casey, are there any that happened in this past time frame that you're like, we have to talk about that on this show?
Uh, I'll keep it, um, I'll keep the theme going with Commerce Hub. Uh, the ability to create payments.
Uh, what's the title of the update, my friend?
Create payment records without payment processing.
Create payment records without payment processing. We're gonna go ahead and join that beta. Let me go ahead and Hit the little wand there for a second. And Chris, create payments without payment processing. What the heck is it?
You can now manually record external payments directly within HubSpot without enrolling in HubSpot or Stripe payments. By centralizing these records, you bridge the gap between your CRM data and your payment activity, making it easy to track external payments alongside your sales pipeline. You can also import external payments in bulk for faster, more efficient data entry. Note: during the public beta, if you haven't set up HubSpot Payments or linked a Stripe Payments account, the following features are temporarily disabled for the payment object, including custom reports and automated workflows. These features will be fully restored once the public beta ends.
Mm, Casey, why does this matter?
Previously, creating and viewing payment records required connecting a payment processing account. Now all HubSpot customers can create, import, and view payment records without enrolling in HubSpot Payment or connecting a Stripe processing account. Manually recording external payments in HubSpot gives you a more complete and accurate view of revenue without requiring every payment to be processed online through HubSpot or Stripe. This centralized experience helps you connect the dots between lead generation, sales efforts, and actual cash flow, enabling your sales, finance, and operations teams with insights into who paid what, when, and how visible from the CRM record they work in every day.
I feel like this is like the guy or gal who owns a business is like, we do cash and check only. Like, we don't need your stinking— no, I'm just kidding. That's probably— I don't even know if that's a thing, but that might still be a thing.
It's definitely beyond that. And I got— the universe smiled upon me this week because I was having a client call on Tuesday talking about Unified Customer View, and I showed like, hey, here's your payments card. It'll be right on the contact record. And they're like, oh, you can, you can create payment records in HubSpot? I'm like, yeah, of course. And then I look later that day and this, and this update is here.
And I was like, oh, that's cool.
By the way, please sign up for this beta. So that, uh, uh, uh, you can see payments. But no, there's a lot of people that still process and do all the payment-related activity outside of HubSpot, and you want to bring that data in, uh, you no longer have to be signed up for HubSpot Payments, which is pretty cool.
Without a doubt. Casey, one— or, uh, because we'll flip-flop, Chris gave one— one that maybe we didn't hit in the buckets or won't hit in the top 3 that you feel we should talk about today?
Explore segments with AI clusters.
Explore segments.
What is? Uh-oh. I was afraid of that.
Uh-oh.
It's fine. I'm prepared.
Do you have it?
I do.
Okay, well then I'm not going to bring it up on my screen, but, Chris, do you have it? Uh-oh. Hang on. Can I switch screens? Oh, I think you just took over my screen.
I didn't know I could do that.
My goodness. How rude. All right, Casey. Uh, Chris, what is it?
Uncover and explore clusters of similar contacts based on your contacts' engagement and fit attributes so that you can discover new opportunities and automatically find your most valuable segments based on how individuals are actually engaging with your business.
And Casey, why the heck does this matter? Ooh, we'll be here a minute, but why does this matter?
A common question you might have is, do I have the right segmentation and engagement strategy in place?
Mm-hmm.
Until now, answering this question required manual analysis or even hiring a data analyst to analyze data across segments, lifecycle stages, engagement metrics, and more. Instead of manually combing your CRM, trying to spot patterns, you can apply a clustering model to your specific segments so that you can understand who you're reaching and who's responding the best. This means you can invest your budget on people who are most likely to engage and convert.
So question, how much trouble and hate do you think I would get from the internet if I told them that I had an internal data analysis, uh, analysis? Anyway, you know what I'm trying to say. Um, but then told them that their name was Breeze. Do you think people would get upset with me if I said, anyway?
Yeah, I'm not so sure about— or even hiring a data analyst. So you're suggesting I don't have to do that anymore? Is that what you're saying?
I don't know. Okay, uh, do we have another one, or should we just go into the top 3, Chris and Casey?
I, I think we're ready for your top 3, buddy.
All right, so then we want to go into and talk about for sure that we hit— and I'll have to share my screen because, you know, somebody not to be mentioned on here, uh, literally stole my screen share.
I really didn't expect that to happen while saving the day.
I know, she did save the day, so we'll— we should just give her an applause. Uh, so first thing we need to hit upon, not that it's a top 3, but it needs to be in a record that we're actually talking about this, because by the way, I don't know what to do with my brain when it says, uh, My pad's not working. Major update and on a sunset. I don't know, uh, I guess it's a major update that it's going away, um, but they are sunsetting the Contact Lists API, which by the way, uh, 6 months ago, 9 months ago, I would have been like, yeah, whatever. Um, now with the amount of love that I have for HubSpot APIs Oh, I immediately jumped in to see what was changing about this. So Chris, Sunset Contact Lists API, uh, what is it?
As of April 30th, 2026, which was yesterday, uh, yeah, endpoints from the Contact Lists API are deprecated and return a 404 error response message. If you need an extension to migrate from the Contacts List API to the V3 Lists API, you can request an extension here.
Oh wow. And there's a link for you there. Casey, why does this matter?
We have sunset the Contacts List API to focus our development efforts on the improved V3 Lists API, which offers a rich— richer, more comprehensive experience that's closely aligned with the HubSpot List app experience.
Yep, the list app also doesn't exist anymore, but yeah, so they need to know that. But let's keep on this. Oh, maybe not, maybe not. I could have swore that that was, uh, I don't know why that's not showing up, but there was literally a customer agent handoff routing that was— maybe they took that one away. So let's just see if this one's still here. Uh, Sunset, maybe they're like, we shouldn't change the name. Just did it, did it. So here's one, Sunset Handoff Fallback routing.
Why is this— why does it say live and not a red dot with sunset?
I don't know, because it's supposed to be sunset but it's green and live. But look right here, like, this is what I'm saying, uh, product team, please help us, help a, help a group of content creators out. We're, we're super confused. There's major updates, sunsets, there's users out, live sunsets. Uh, okay, Chris, um, being that we're told that it's gonna sunset the handoff fallback routing in rules-based bots, uh, what the heck is this? And then Casey, you can just roll into why the heck it matters.
So, so we have sunset customer agent fallback routing within the rule-based bots, uh, send to customer agent module. After April 27th, 2026, uh, your remaining fallback routing rules on this module will be removed and all customer agent actions will follow global human handoff rules instead. Customers without the Send to Customer Agent module or Send to Customer Agent modules without the fallback are not impacted.
You all right there, buddy? Casey, why does it matter?
I mean, we had a whole second phrase there just for an S. Is that— anyway.
Ooh, happy Friday, everybody.
Sunset it.
Customers using rule-based bots with a customer agent handoff module or modules that still has a fallback routing rule configured, for example, fallback routing rule set on the module, these portals have been showing an in-app depreciation warning banner for several months.
Oh my goodness.
We've told you.
We've told you. You knew. You knew. You should know.
Extension options here.
No, no, no link. No, uh, you got the banner from us. Um, who's it getting cut off for? Maybe that's what that should say. Anyway, Uh, moving on, let's definitely talk about this. Ah, campaigns, love them. Associate, uh, objects, love it. Um, all these words I'm down for. Associate custom objects with campaigns and additional campaign CRM improvements. If that isn't the tease of all teas, and next week on that, we'll talk about additional— no, we're gonna do it right now. Chris, associate custom objects with campaign and additional campaign CRM improvements. Uh, what the heck is it?
Customers can now associate custom object records to a HubSpot campaign if you have Enterprise. Uh, this update also includes a number of additional enhancements to the campaigns object. The campaigns object is now available to view in the data model builder along with all associated CRM objects.
Oh, Chris just got excited.
Association labels can be set between campaigns, uh, and custom objects. Customers can now build segments using the campaign object and filter on campaign properties and associated CRM objects. And campaign properties now support conditional property logic. Uh, campaigns is a big boy CRM object now.
Yes, it is a big boy CRM object now. Uh, Casey, why the heck does this matter?
Many upmarket customers are using custom objects to collect important data about prospects and customers. However, marketing had no way to connect and tie these back to their wider marketing efforts through campaigns. Customers can now bring these records directly into campaigns through associations and define relationships through custom labels. This is accompanied by additional improvements to support campaign segments, lists, and conditional campaign properties. These updates make campaigns act like true CRM objects, enabling campaigns to act as the epicenter for all relevant touchpoints and closes off frustrating data dead ends.
Now, my big question is, Chris, do you want a visualization of the epicenter that is Uh, this— I'm just kidding. I'm kidding. Who gets it? These updates are available to Marketing Hub Pro and Marketing Hub Enterprise customers across Marketing Studio and the existing campaigns tool. For custom object association, portals must have access to custom objects. Of course, Enterprise only. So Casey and Chris, what are your thoughts of this week's update?
Updates?
I think there were some big ones. Um, Chris and I poked in, was it Wednesday? Um, and there were only like 5. So I mean, we had 20-some updates this week versus 34 last week.
Yep.
Um, so not so many, but there were some like pretty significant ones I feel like this week. Um, and some of those sunsets being, uh, included as those can really affect people downstream.
Without a doubt. Chris, thoughts?
It's just good to be back talking about updates. I mean, I know it's the third week in a row I've said that, uh, but yeah, it's, it's good to be back. Uh, so good. Uh, if, if I can be the first to invite you, George, um, to, uh, the show that we're starting next week to, to start doing this daily again. Uh, another orange morning starts on Monday, uh, with, with me and Casey and friends. So we're excited about—
