Create Because You Care :)

George Kao argues creators should focus on showing up consistently to explore ideas publicly for an ideal audience, not chasing metrics. He recommends brief daily practices like 1-10 minute voice notes to stay consistent while managing other responsibilities.

This video is for those of you who wish you could be consistent in creating content. But life seems to always get in the way. You've got family caretaking perhaps, or caretaking for yourself. You've got maybe work obligations you got to take care of. And there's just always reasons why that energy drains that prevent you from having the adequate space, spaciousness, creativity, to create the content that you want. Okay, so just in a few minutes, I'm hoping to kind of open you up again to break down those barriers. So the first thing I want to share with you is that there are three stages of content creation. If you haven't heard me talk about this, I have in depth videos, in depth articles, one in depth article and several in depth videos about the three stages of content creation. You can look it up, the three stages of content creation. Search it online, you'll find it. Basically, stage one is where you show up consistently and you're exploring, you're exploring your thoughts, you're exploring yourself. And you're also coming with a genuine sense of service to other serving your ideal viewer, your ideal reader, someone that you know, you know, my ideal client would benefit from the wisdom, the experience that I have. And by definition, that's why they're your ideal client. And so I want you to imagine and stage two is taking the best of your stage one and then repurposing it, resharing it, et cetera. You can look up the three stages of content creation for more. But I want to talk about stage one because stage one is where the consistency comes in. Stage two is more occasional. Stage one is like basically daily, if you can, okay. Or several times a week. And by doing the consistent creation, you give yourself that opportunity every time you show up to explore yourself. And it's like every day goes by, you lose another opportunity to publicly journal, to explore yourself courageously, publicly. Okay. In the beginning, when you have a small audience, you don't have to worry so much because who's watching? Okay, great time to explore yourself publicly in the beginning. But you also get the opportunity every day to show up in service to other. And it's like yet another day goes by and you have not given yourself the opportunity to serve others through your public exploration of your ideas, your tips, your stories, et cetera. Anyway, so think of that ideal audience member as your ideal client. Somebody by definition, who benefits from your stories, your tips, your learned lived experience and your presence, your energy signature. That's why they're your ideal client, because they resonate with who you are. Just Being yourself. Don't you want clients that you feel comfortable with, that feel comfortable, that you feel comfortable in their presence? Yeah, exactly. So your ideal client's someone who feels that you feel comfortable in their presence and they feel comfortable with you because you're being yourself. And so I like to think of my ideal client as like a friend who benefits from my presence. So I want you to imagine having a friend who is going through a tough time. If a friend's going through a tough time and they just need someone to show up in connection to care for them, like sending them a quick 1, 1 minute voicemail every day to say, hey, just checking in on you. Now I want you to imagine that this is a friend who says, hey, listen. Now maybe they're not going through a tough, well, everyone's going through a tough time in some way. But I want you to imagine this friend is telling you, hey, I just want you to share something from your life, from your lived experience, some wisdom that you have gathered, maybe something you read recently or long time ago or something you developed yourself. I just want you to share some wisdom that you've gathered over the years. Just some little thing with me every day and you know, don't worry how it comes across. Just, just, I just, I just want you to know that you're there and that you're there to care that someone's caring about me. Right? That friend is your ideal audience. Really, I mean, quite literally, your ideal audience is somebody who is looking for someone like you to care on a consistent basis, to show up. When they're surfing their social media, they want to see what you have to share with them. Your tips, your lived experience, your stories, whom you've helped and what insights you got out of that. Helping yourself, what insights you got out of that. Show up consistently to share with that friend because that friend is your ideal audience. And by doing that consistently showing up, you become more capable of consistently showing up and you become more strong in your ability to communicate your authenticity. And that's how your audience begins to grow. But really more importantly, that's how you become clearer about your message and about what your energy signature really is. So don't let another day go by and miss the opportunity to practice, to explore. Now last thing I'll say is this for the person who's saying, but George, I just told you, my life is tumultuous. I have family caretaking, my self caretaking. I have got to do work obligations. You are making the content creation project too heavy for yourself. Just like if you had a tumultuous life, you still would show up for that friend who needs help, right? That friend who says hey, just send me something every day. Just a minute voicemail. That's got to be the content creation lightness of touch that you bring. Even if you're tired, even if you're overwhelmed, you're still showing up quickly to say hey, I care. Here's something, some story about my life or some tip that I have that's something that's been useful for me. Something that's been useful for my clients. Some interesting thought that I had something I've read recently that was helpful. Whatever, whatever. One minute, three minutes. Not two hours of sitting down content, not even half an hour. 10 minutes. You have 10 minutes a day or several times a week. So I hope this is helpful. Show up to genuinely explore and to genuinely serve. I hope this is helpful. Thank you for joining me on this journey.
