A short YouTube video by George Kao advising creators and entrepreneurs to stop idolizing six- and seven-figure income goals pushed by some programs and 'gurus.' Instead, he recommends focusing on doable, incremental next-step goals (for example, increasing monthly income by $500 or $1,000), which build confidence, preserve authenticity in marketing, and make steady progress more enjoyable and sustainable.

I kind of wish there aren't programs out there that are selling you to make six figures or to make seven figures in your business. I've said in other videos why I think that's so problematic. But in this short video I want to talk about the very important consequence of always following the six figure goal or your heroes, people making six or seven figures is because it's because you are continually building anxiety with that. What I mean is that you're never quite there or it's taking a long time to get there. And so it's always the recognition that I'm not there, I'm not there, I'm not there. And also because the six figures become such a singular focused goal that it's very easy to compromise your authenticity to try to get there. So what's a better way? I recommend that you instead focus on a very doable next step in your business, saying, for example, let me increase my monthly income by $500 or $1,000 and then I will be quite happy with that. And then of course I may go further increase it by another thousand dollars a month, etc, etc. So that way if you're doing it step by step, having these goals that, that are very doable, but you just keep focus on those next step goals instead of six figures or seven figures. Stop listening to those people, just focus on the next step goal. Knowing of course that you have a long term journey. But if you focus on the next step goal, you'll be building your confidence and your skills along the way. And really the confidence is the main thing because then it's much easier to achieve $500 more a month in your income than to jump from wherever you are to six figures or seven figures, right? So build confidence along the way. You'll be much happier all along the way and you'll be able to be more authentic in your marketing and your business. Don't listen to those gurus, those business gurus that keep selling you the success is six figures. No, success is whatever you define success to be. For the next step. Until the next video, I'm George Kao. Always open to your comments and your questions and encouraging you to do your business from your inner authenticity instead of following the goals and success of somebody else's definition. Be well.
