making it all worthwhile :)

George Kao tells solopreneurs how to make every task in your business feel meaningful instead of just efficient. Pick a spirit word like curiosity or service, then bring that intention to everything you do, from video creation to bookkeeping, and watch ordinary work become soulful.

I'd like to speak to the solopreneurs who are here, those of you who are building a true livelihood where you get to be paid to do what you love, that your business, your money making activities isn't just about making money, but that you want to have everything you do in your money making activity be meaningful, be soul aligned, whatever that means for you to really have every day being a potentially magical experience as you build the business to the vision that you want, whatever that might be, small or large, up to you. So I'm speaking with those of you who are aiming for that and along that journey. My question is, are you making every task truly meaningful and even magical as an experience? Because the default mode. I don't know about you, but you can let me know in the comments if you. Like many of us, when we approach a task in our business, we have this vision for, oh, I can see myself, you know, making money, doing what I love. Wouldn't that be wonderful? I'm providing this healing service, this transformational program or whatever, and then people pay me for it and that's wonderful. I'm working my way toward there. But there's so many things we have to do on the way there and probably years of doing various, like millions of tasks to get, to get to that point. So my question for you is to look at that journey itself and to look at each task and to say, can each task be made more meaningful? And that's really what I try to do every day in my work. So let me give you an example. When I'm creating this video, for example, right, I could be thinking, oh, I just want to get it over with. I just have to say this thing. I have to try to make as few mistakes as I can and then I'm going to have to try to make it entertaining and then post it. Like I'm just thinking about the end result and trying to somehow manipulate a result, right? That, that's one, that's a default perspective for many solopreneurs. Or if I'm doing my bookkeeping, I was, oh, I just try to get, be efficient, try to make few mistakes, try to get it done as fast as possible. And you know, if I have to do it, I can't outsource it, then I have to do it. Then I, it's like this getting things done mentality, which is fine, right? Like that. If that's their value and they're practicing that intentionally, then I, I wish them well, right? I wish them, I wish them well. That's now how I like to do it. I know for so many years of my life, that used to be the default mentality. Whatever I'm doing is try to get things done and be efficient and finish the day so I can enjoy the evening. But now, or now? Not just now, but really, for the past 15 years, what I've aimed to do is to make every day and every task worthwhile spiritually on its. On its own. I like to say. I like to bring a spirit word into every task, every moment that I'm working on my business. What's a spirit word? It could be something like curiosity, gratitude. Could be service, connection, exploration, love. So, for example, right now, as I'm making this video, rather than just saying, I got to get it over with, thinking about my next task, got to make this thing entertaining. And maybe some of that's there, but actually most of it, when I'm intentional about it, and I try to be intentional about it, is how can this few minutes of energy expenditure of my precious life, right? And also the energy expenditure of my viewer, how can these few minutes be deeply worthwhile for both of us? That's my aim. And by deeply worthwhile for me, it means that how am I practicing yet again the expression of my soul, as much as what I can muster at this moment? How can I yet again use this time to connect more deeply to my divine source and see how that divine energy can be, can come through me in any possible way, through the cracks of my humanity. May the divine energy transmit in service, in love, to whomever is receiving on the other side. How might this few minutes of energy expenditure be of blessing to the viewer? Much more meaningful if I'm doing my bookkeeping instead of, oh, I just want to get it done. I look at each line item with gratitude. Oh, this service that I paid for, I'm so grateful. It takes five seconds for just feeling into it, 10 seconds. But it makes my bookkeeping time much more meaningful. So those are just a couple examples. And I wonder, how might you do this kind of intentionality to make every task you do today meaningful? I hope this is helpful. I wish you well. Let me know in the comments if you can think of a task or have something in mind that you can bring some more intentionality to this to make it more meaningful and therefore make your whole day more magical? I wish you well.
