Rapid Life Learning -- pause & reflect frequently with 2 simple questions

George Kao teaches a two-question reflection method: after any activity, ask what you did well and what you can do better next time. Pause before meals, after meetings, or during bathroom breaks instead of waiting for a yearly review.

Hi, this is George Kao, and in this short video I want to share with you a simple way to learn rapidly, to grow quickly in your life, and really any area that you want to get better at. And the simple method is to pause and to ask yourself these two what did I do well just now that I want to keep doing the next time? And secondly, what. What didn't I do so well that I can do differently or better the next time? So what did I do well and what could I do better? And if you pause and ask yourself these two questions after any activity or after any segment of an activity that you want to improve on, you will learn more rapidly and grow more quickly. So unfortunately, most people only do this about once a year, right? They pause and ask themselves those questions at the end of the year, beginning of the next year. They say, what did I do well this past year? What can I do better the next year? And they end up setting New Year's resolutions that oftentimes don't get implemented. And why is that? It's because they don't pause and ask those questions often enough. So that is my encouragement to you today is to pause more often so you can ask those two questions more frequently. What did I do well and what can I do better? And again, whatever you just did, it could be, what could I. Maybe you just came out of a client meeting, maybe you just had a communication with a colleague, maybe you just made some progress on a particular project you do. Maybe it's after you do one of your videos or whatever it is you see, you can ask yourself, what did I do well this time and what can I do better the next time? So if you pause and do this once a day, it's great. Some people do this before they go to bed. They journal and ask themselves, what did I do well today? What can I do better tomorrow? Some others who are morning people, they do it in the morning, what did I do well yesterday? And what can I do better today? And those are all very helpful. Now if you want to learn more rapidly, is what I'm suggesting to you here, grow more quickly. Then you need to pause more often throughout the day to ask yourself these two questions. Now, one natural way of pausing is to look at your natural rhythm of life. And when do you pause naturally already? So, for example, before or after each meal? Because you pause several times a day to eat. So maybe before or after you eat you can ask yourself that question. Some people say grace before they eat. Well, maybe in addition to or instead of addition to saying grace, you can ask yourself, what did I do well already today? And what can I do well the rest of this day or the next time I do this activity I just did, right? Or another natural pause is when you when you use the restroom. You use the restroom multiple times a day, same thing. Before you return to work, ask yourself, what did I do well in the past hour and what can I do better in the next hour? So I hope that this is helpful. I really hope that you will try this out. The more that you do this pause and reflect, okay, the more knowledge you have of yourself and of how you can improve, the more conscious you become actually of your activities so that you can more naturally just even by asking these questions, you will become better and better and better. If you watched my other video about doing energy reboots, you can add these two questions to your energy reboot. So until the next video, I wish you more awareness of your actions and how you can improve upon them throughout the day. Be well.
