A short YouTube talk by George Kao encouraging action even when you don't feel like it. Kao describes a personal routine (recording three videos on Friday afternoons), emphasizes making progress through small, imperfect actions, and frames these decisions as exercises that strengthen or erode one’s willpower and character—impacting business, career, and personal growth.

I didn't feel like coming out to make this video right now. It's a little bit rainy, drizzly, and I got something down the wrong pipe in my throat just about 10 minutes ago. I'm still trying to recover from that.
But I am here because I have scheduled to make these videos.
On Friday afternoons, I make my three.
Videos for the coming week.
And this is one of the most.
Important.
Actions that we need to make.
If we want to grow our business, our career, grow ourselves, is to be.
Willing to do.
Make progress, to do.
Helpful things even when we don't feel like it. And in any moment that you don't.
Feel like doing something, but you feel it's the right thing to do or that it'll help you make progress on something that's important to you, and you.
Make the decision and you do it.
No matter how small, no matter how.
Badly it comes across. And there's my sweet dog with a rain jacket on him.
But you do it.
What happens is you grow your willpower muscle in that moment. On the other hand, if you in.
A moment where you know you need.
To do something right or you know you should be making progress on something, but you decide not to do it because it's too hard, okay? Or it's inconvenient or you feel like doing something else because it's easier and more fun, you erode your willpower muscle in that moment.
And it is these many moments in a week and in a month, in.
A year that leads to the formation or the erosion of your character and of your business, of your career.
So let me be hopefully, an encouragement to you that even when the conditions.
Are not right, I'm getting dripped on.
By these tall trees that are collecting all the moisture in the air.
My throat's not completely right. But I'm making this video anyway because I'm here.
And this is the time that I.
Have to make the videos for the coming week.
No matter how badly it comes out, I'm here to make this video and hopefully be an encouragement to you to.
Go and do the right thing, go.
And make progress, especially when you don't.
Feel like it, you don't have to.
Spend as much time as you thought you would. But even just spending a little bit.
Of time making a little bit of.
Progress, especially when you don't feel like it will improve your ability to do so in the future.
