Your content makes a difference...

A short motivational video by George Kao urging viewers to regularly share content online to positively influence global consciousness. He frames the internet as a 'global brain', links content-creation to a responsibility to spread wisdom, compassion, and courage, and addresses common barriers like perfectionism and the belief that ideas are already said—arguing repetition is valuable because collective memory is fleeting.

Hi, this is George Kao. In case you're wondering, I'm standing across the way from the San Francisco Public Library, our neighborhood branch. And today I want to talk with you about content. I believe that you and I each have an opportunity and a responsibility to be sharing content on a regular basis, because you and I both have easy access to the Internet and easy access to share information with the Internet, with the rest of the world, at the very least, with our circles. And you and I are part of a global brain. So what that means through the Internet, we're all connected and we all shape each other's consciousness, right? So whatever I say in these videos is shaping the consciousness of those who watch this, and so can you. You can shape the consciousness of anyone who reads your content and watches your videos. And I take it as a really a sacred duty to share as much content as I can to move the global consciousness toward what I believe is more perspective, more wisdom, more compassion, hopefully, and more courageous. And I encourage you to do the same. So I want to encourage you to think about taking just 10 minutes a day. You have 10 minutes a day. Or let me ask you this question, rather. Do you have 10 minutes a day to help shape the global consciousness, move it a little bit more towards wisdom, more love, more courage, more understanding about what you have studied for years and what you've been working on, perhaps with clients for years? I believe the answer is yes. And one of the things that often trips up people in terms of sharing content is perfectionism. So I want to encourage you to go read the story of the ceramics teacher, and I'm going to put a link to that story underneath the video. It's a powerful story, and it got me to start posting every day, just about every day on social media, because, again, when we do this, you and I are moving the consciousness of the world ever towards more of a good direction, because there are also many people who post things that spread fear, perhaps spread mistruth, or just are wasting people's attention, wasting people's energy in reading it, wasting people's clicks. And you and I have that responsibility as people who love spreading good messages to spread on a regular basis, okay? To share it on a regular basis. So, and one other thing that sometimes trips people up is, well, whatever I want to say has already been said a million times. So let me say this again. Let me say, and maybe you've heard this answer, but this, it's worth repeating, is that whatever is important, whatever is worth reading or watching, is worth sharing again. And again and again. Because the global consciousness continues to have amnesia, we continually are distracted by other types of content. We continually forget what is true. And so it's our responsibility to continue to remind each other and to remind anyone who reads our content about what we believe to be true, good and beautiful. So until the next episode, until the next video. I wish you well and I wish you courage in sharing content.
