A step-down exercise to fix inward knee collapse and strengthen the muscles that stabilize your knee. Keep your knee aligned over your big toe as you step down, activating your glutes, VMO, and tibialis anterior. Progress by raising the step height or adding weight.

One of my favorite moves to create knee stability and knee strength is just a simple step down. It's cool because you can do any height that you would like, and the movement doesn't really change. Just make sure that your knee literally goes in alignment with your big toe. Step lightly and come back up. And you can progress this with different weights, different heights, and focus on contracting your quad, this VMO quad, lengthening your patella tendon, and activating your tibialis. And you'll see over time, there's less less pain in this movement. When you're doing a step down, you wanna make sure that the knee goes straight over the toes and not bends inward. This creates bad habits, a collapsing ankle, and can make you more prone to valgus knee syndrome or an ACL injury. You wanna activate this hip here, this glute fire, keep the knee straight, and then come up.
