In a LifeZette interview, Greg Gudorf, CEO of PureFlix Digital, explains the company’s purpose of influencing culture for Christ through family‑friendly, faith‑based media. He notes that PureFlix has become the world’s largest producer and distributor of such content, releasing about four to five films annually, with the latest being The Case for Christ, adapted from Lee Strobel’s book. Gudorf emphasizes that as Christian audiences—particularly in the Bible Belt and Middle America—consume more faith‑aligned films in theaters, on DVD, or via streaming, Hollywood takes notice, creating a feedback loop that could bring mainstream studios to address this market. The conversation highlights the niche yet growing Christian‑conservative media market that has been largely overlooked by traditional Hollywood.
Christian conservatives are usually at odds with Hollywood on just about everything, from morals to politics. But one company is working to bridge the gap. Pureflix, dubbed "the Christian Netflix" by the media, is an organization that strives to be a family-friendly video service. LifeZette sat down with Greg Gudorf, the CEO of Pureflix Digital, to discuss his company's faithful mission.
We intend to influence culture for Christ. Through media. And using that as their vision, they've become the world's largest producer and distributor of films that are appropriate for faith and family. We produce about 4 or 5 films a year aimed at the Christian audience. Our most recent one was released 3 weeks ago, The Case for Christ, based on Lee Strobel's book by the same name. So when Christian films rise and Christian households tune in, whether it's in theater or DVD or streaming, Hollywood pays attention. That business will bring Hollywood back to bringing their style of message for us to that market.
It seems like you're really hitting a niche audience, this market that really hasn't been tapped into, um, because the majority of these Christian conservatives in the Bible Belt and Middle America have kind of been forgotten, um, when it comes to media. Um, do you see that in the work that you're doing?
People always say, "Oh, you're serving that niche market." That Christian niche market. I'm like, it's the largest niche out there, man. It's huge, right? There's, you know, 90 million American households that self-report as Christian out of 118 million TV households in the US. There's about 40 million that are considered strong Christian households. It's a big market niche, and it's a market that's been underserved. And so people are realizing that Our minds and our souls receive all of this input, all the stimuli from the outside world, and it's the old garbage in, garbage out. Put the good stuff in and the good stuff comes out. And Pureflix.com is one way to feed your mind and your soul with the positive, the uplifting, the inspirational. You should be uplifted by what you see. And if we do that right, we will ultimately influence culture for Christ. India.
