How's it going? Greg faxson here from Gregfaxon.com and in this video, I want to talk about your vital functions when you're running your coaching business. But before I describe what they are or what that term even means, I want to show you the chickens that we just got on the farm here. That's the rooster that you see over there and that's our chicken coop. Let's put out this electric fence yesterday with Emma. Okay, so vital functions. What does that term mean? Well, Darren Hardy in the book the Entrepreneur Roller Coaster talks about how you need to have three vital functions in your business. You need to know what those functions are and you as the business owner, as the coach, as the CEO. If you're not aware of the vital functions in your business, meaning the things that only you can do and the things you need to stay focused on, then you can't know your vital priorities, right? The projects and your focuses quarter to quarter in your business. So I got to thinking about it and I figure there's really three vital functions in your business. Number one, if you're running a coaching business, your first vital function is delivery, right? It's serving your paid clients. And this is the most important vital function. The reality is you owe it to your paying clients to focus most of your energy at any given time on giving them value because they paid you, right? And you got to show up and make it happen. But there's two other vital functions. If you just coach, right? You can't. The business isn't going to be sustainable because you need to get clients. So the second vital function in your coaching business is enrollment. And this vital function actually kind of has two pieces to it, right? There's marketing, which is getting awareness of your potential clients. And then there's sales. Once you get those, that awareness, once you get a potential client on the phone, converting them into a paid client that you can then serve, which takes you back to vital function number one. So first vital function, we have delivery. Second vital function of the CEO of a coaching business is enrollment. Enrollment of new ideal clients. The third vital function in your coaching business, I want you to think about it for a second. The third vital function is leadership. Now, when you start off your coaching business, the third vital function might just be administrative work and logistics, but the reality is there's other people who can do that. And once your business starts growing and you get into having virtual assistants or hiring contractors or even full time employees, you probably shouldn't be doing most of that work. That's not a vital function. The business doesn't need you to be doing that in order to keep growing. So as your business grows, your vital function becomes leadership, which is determining the overall strategy of your business, determining the direction of your business, figuring out how is my business going to stand out, delegating and outsourcing those recurring tasks and those lower leverage tasks to other team members and supporting those team members. So three vital functions in your coaching business, just to summarize, number one is delivering to current clients. Number two is enrolling new clients. Number three is leading leading your organization, managing the people you're outsourcing to, managing employees if you have them. If you cover those three activities and you focus on those each and every day, your business is going to grow a lot faster than if you sort of creatively avoid and focus on lower leverage tasks. That might be easier. You can feel a little bit productive doing them, but they don't actually bring in new business or result in you doing great work and referrals or result in the business kind of going anywhere long term. Keep in mind those three priorities and my challenge for you is to figure out, okay, if those are my three vital functions, what are the projects for this next quarter and how do they fit into those three vital functions and how can I structure my day even so that I'm only focused on the three things that I can do in my business that no one else can do that it needs me present for and outsource everything else. Hope that was helpful. Let me know in the comments your biggest insight or your biggest question on this and have a great day.
