Greg Faxon explains that while entrepreneurs start businesses seeking freedom, that freedom can become a different kind of cage unless one shifts mindset. Success requires treating yourself as your own boss (CEO of yourself) and practicing mental discipline to maintain focus and fulfill commitments without external direction.

Most entrepreneurs start their own businesses because they want more freedom. But the irony is most of them also end up building themselves a second cage because we spend so much time in school and in jobs where we have people telling us what to do that when we don't have that anymore we go totally bonkers, we don't stay focused and our attention gets completely diluted. So the mindset shift. If you want to be an entrepreneur, it's not I had a boss and now I'm just a free agent. It's I had a boss and now I have to be my own boss. I have to be the CEO of me and I have to have some discipline of mind where I'm not letting myself go off in a million different directions. And that's how you take entrepreneurial freedom to the next level where you can actually feel at ease and not trapped by all the different commitments you've made to yourself that you can't really fulfill.
