Welcome to the Influency Podcast. I'm Hadar, and this is how to Pronounce Friday, where we take a confusing word or word pair. We learn how to pronounce it and how to use it with confidence. Let's get started. Today I want to talk about the two words corporate and cooperate. Corporate, Cooperate. The first word has two syllables. The first one is core. Core. Just like the word core or four core. The second syllable is pr. So basically it's a P sound and then an r and a t at the end. Since it's a stop t or a held T, you barely hear the T sound. It's is just an abrupt stop of the R sound. Listen. Pr. And that's enough. Cor. Prit. Corporate. The second word cooperate, has four syllables, cooperate. All right, and basically it's two words that come together. Co and operate. Co, a sound. Then o as in go co. Then you open it to the ah as in father sound, ko. Now, since you connect both vowels together, it feels like there is an intrusive W sound as a W sound right in the middle. Listen, Ko kawa. Then you have a P sound at a schwa. And the ending is rate, just like the word rate cooperate. All right, so at the end of the word corporate, it's a. Is a. There is a schwa sound there, corporate. And here it ends with rate. There is the a vowel rate. And the T again is a healthy. So you barely hear it. You don't hear rate. Cooperate. Corporate, cooperate. Same goes for corporation and cooperation. The ending is the same here. Corpor, schwa, re, primary stress. Again, corporation and co, opa. And the ending is the same ration. Corporation, cooperation. Simple and quick.
