Short solo episode (How to Pronounce Friday) by Hadar Shemesh teaching pronunciation and usage for three English words: quit, quite, and quiet. The host explains shared consonant cluster (qu → /kw/), how to form the W sound (lip rounding), contrasts vowel and syllable differences (quite: /kwaɪt/ with a single long vowel; quiet: /ˈkwaɪət/ two syllables with a schwa + y glide), and the weak/final T realization in casual speech. Example sentences are given ("I quit my job", "Be quiet", "I'm quite hungry"), and the episode closes with subscription and Instagram (Hadar Accentsway) callouts.

Welcome to the Influency Podcast. I'm Hadar, and this is how to Pronounce Friday, where we take a confusing word or word pair. We learn how to pronounce it and how to use it with confidence. Let's get started. Today, I want to talk to you about the three words quite, quiet, and quit. Quite. As. I'm quite hungry right now. Quiet as in be quiet and quit, as in I quit my job or quit it. All right, so all three words begin with that's a k sound and then a W sound. So to make the W sound, bring your lips together, As in the word wow, W, W. In the word quit, you shift from the qu sound to an as in sit, qu. So drop your jaw, keep space between the two teeth, and relax your lips. Quit. And then it's a t sound, but it's a hell t, so you barely hear it. Quit, quit. Or you make just a very subtle t at the end. Quit, Quit. All right, now then we have the word quiet and quite. Let's take the word quite. It's the qu consonant cluster. And then the I sound. I as in mine. And then another T. Quite. Quite. The word quiet begins the same quote. Quiet, but then you have another syllable. It's a y sound, a schwa, and a t, Y. So it's quiet, quiet, quiet, quiet, quiet, quiet. Quit. I quit my job. Be quiet, and I'm quite hungry. Quite quiet. Quit. All right, that's it. Okay. That was your how to Pronounce Friday episode. I hope you enjoyed it. And. And if you like the podcast, then consider subscribing to the podcast.
